i recieved this memo on the job this week and figured id share the info.
still no word on whether this will resolve any of the periodic evening slow-down issues throughout the system. definitely seems as though CV is going chest to chest with verizons fios by going 30/5 |

1 edit | reply to lowdownshame Always nice to get something extra at no cost. Will this do anything for download speeds? I really don't upload many files.
This does suggest we have FIOS to thank.
btw... I have never experienced any evening slowdowns or any for that matter since I went to Boost about 4 months ago. Perhaps my node is underutilized or I am just lucky. |

| Orange County is usually rolled into all of NJ. It'll probably be like when a new channel is added. The new channel or in this case service upgrade occurs on the last day. I live in Matamoras, PA which shares a system with Warwick, NY and Montague, NJ. |

| reply to Chris123NT Yes it boots that way but switches to a 2.0 channel. This was discussed a while back. Here is one post on it, though I think there were others.

join:2003-01-24 Northfield, CT 1 edit | reply to lowdownshame I never can understand why they offer 30mb downstream, when docsis 2 supports a 40mb downstream, but the only a 5mb upstream when docsis 2 supports a 30mb? Why not make it 30/10 or 30/15, then they would be able to say the have SOMETHING over fios. |

| reply to TheWiseGuy I looked back at some other posts, it may be that they have been running at 10mbps on the upstream channels. I would assume though since Boost requires a Docsis 2.0 modem that they will run at 2.0 and above 10mbps as part of the upgrade but I have been wrong before. -- Warning, If you post nonsense and use misinformation and are here to argue based on those methods, you will be put on ignore. |

| reply to lowdownshame Well, it is good to have something free atleast they are not charging to boost up the boost service. Now, I'd rather have the 2mbps upload speed with no caps than having 5 mbps of upload with caps on ports. But, good to see that atleast they are trying to keep their (can I say valued?) customers. -- .:: Sunny ::. |
