said by bgtimber75 :Seriously, when are people going to figure out how to hack these boxes. someone apparently has already done this recently in my area. had a 6 hour outage last week to upgrade their systems as preventive maintenance.
the multi-dvr seems nice, however I dont see the immediate need in my household for the extra money (i have everything with them, so my bill is big enough). What I want to see is being able to download my dvr recordings to my computer, then i'll foam at the mouth. -- babbling | How's the weather? |

| reply to Johny H Maryland & Virginia MRDVR roll out is supposed to launch Wed August 16th.
If anyone in the Maryland or Virginia region already has the MRDVR, please advise.
I attempted to order the service, but will not be able to order until at least Wed, assuming everything goes per the plan I was advised of.

I can only see my PC on the TV... nothing else. |

| Well... I have found out that it doesn't make any difference on changing the router. I can still only see my PC. I have reset everything... still nothing.
Not really interested in just seeing pictures from my PC on TV. I will check with FIOS Support and see what they can tell me.

@verizon.net | I can't seem to bring up anything different on my 2500's. I called and ordered the MRDVR but how the heck am I supposed to know it's working? |

| OK... got it. I spent about 45 minutes on the phone with a FIOS Solutions Tech. I currently have (2) HD DVR's... now one is setup for the Media Manager... I can watch recorded programs from my STB in my daughters bedroom... which has the 2500.
I still have some checking to do... in order for this to really work for me I would need to get rid of my HD DVR in the bedroom and get a standard HD STB. Fun..fun..fun.

It only works with the 2500. If you read the press release you will notice that they are charging you for a service that is not fully ready to deploy. Hey, that's FiOS TV. |

| reply to Johny H Tell me if I'm understanding this correctly. We can't get a larger harddrive in our DVR. We don't have the option to buy our equipment instead renting. Many features are disabled on our STBs. When they almost enable a feature they have been bragging about from the beginning you have to pay extra. It's a simple software push that doesn't actually add anything only enable what is already there and we still have to pay extra and limited to a small HDD in our DVR. The software for the PC is limited to photos and MP3 type music files instead of movies and video. The PC software doesn't work with our STB unless we pay extra for the MRDVR even though it has nothing to do with another STB accessing the PC. Did I mention that this cost extra? I can't believe you guys are paying for this or even thinking about ordering this. I can almost live with the HD not being able to stream to the other STBs but this seems worthless. I'm very disappointed in this the more I read. I'm thinking about cancelling FiosTV. I know it sounds drastic but these things just keep piling up. Take a look at your HDDVR and tell me you can't see mounds of ideas that can't be used because they have been disabled and when something is almost enabled they want $6 a month more. This is all it does for $6 more? Wow.... |

I agree with you completely. The MRDVR function was the one feature I was waiting for to finally switch from DirecTV to Fios. I keep reading about all the bugs in the Moto DVR, and I told myself that the MRDVR would be enough of a killer app to make it all worthwhile.
Based upon what I'm hearing now, I think I'll be keeping my DTivos for quite some time. I think I'll look more seriously at hacking them for HMO. |

| reply to Johny H The main reason I switched to FiOS TV was for the amount of HD channels I get. It is more than any other provider offers and the compression is pretty light compared to DirecTV who offers fewer HD channels. It is pretty sad that I went from the amazing platform of the DirecTivo to this pathetic excuse for a DVR, and then Verizon has the audacity to want to charge more for enabling a feature they had said would be available to everyone!
If I had another option, I would cancel my TV service. At the very least I am not going to order the MRDVR option, and I would hope that by all of the early adopters boycotting it, we could send a message to Verizon that we are not happy! |

| Another unhappy early adopter here. The feature of MRDVR and Media Manager and nice to have features that keep me from thinking of looking elsewhere but not features that I would buy.
Verizon - you listening? Don't spoil a good thing for a few $'s - the incremental cost for these features is near to zero once developed. |

| I like the concept... but this is definitely in the infant stages. I signed up yesterday afternoon and cancelled this morning. The lady I spoke to this morning indicated that this was very new to them... actually she wasn't even sure how to cancel it.
Verizon really needs to do a better job training the CSR before launching something like this. The only thing I was told correctly yesterday was that it would work on the 2500 STB... and it did... but it doesn't work on another DVR as I was told nor is it supported on the HD STB. I couldn't fault them because everyone I spoke to went out of their way to help... it just wasn't the correct information.
Cheers, Ronnie |

| reply to a1rodger Was activate as promised earlier in the thread in the NoVA market last night - but only if you pay your $7/month extra (for the bundled MRDVR and Media manager) which I won't be doing anytime soon.
Give me free unbundled Media Manager and I might use it |

| reply to Johny H I gave it a week to try out, and was not what I expected, so I called and cancelled it today. I was more interested in the MediaManager, and for what they were giving you for $7.00 a month I will purchase something instead. Also it took as long to cancel as it did to order, the customer service really needs to be better trained! |

| reply to ptbarnett I hadn't tried fast-forward until now. My experience is the same as NOCMan's: fast forward doesn't work. I get the circle/slash in the upper right corner, and playback pauses. Hitting play again restarts the program. A couple of nights ago, i discovered that fast-forward and rewind worked on the remote 2500. I thought: Cool, they pushed a firmware update that fixed the problem. But last night, I had the same problem: can't FF or rewind a recorded program from the 2500. So, there's some other factor that is causing it.
My current suspicion: if the 6416 is currently playing another channel when the recording occurs simultaneously (using the second tuner), there's a problem with FF/REW on the remote 2500.
I typically listen to a music channel during the day while I work (at home). But, on the day that the result recording could be FF/REW'ed, I had teleconferences all day and had shut off the music.
I need to investigate it further and try several iterations of each to see if the two conditions are correlated. |

| reply to Johny H ptbarnett,
I don't use media manager but I get the same problem with unable to fastfoward or rewind every once and a while and get a circle with a slash in the top right hand corner. If this is happening when watching live tv, press live tv and then it will correct this issue. I have only seen this happen in live tv though. All recorded programs fwd and rew fine. |
