I just called v about install. Bounce twice and put on hold 3 times... they said that it would require a tech visit. I have 1 dvr and 1 standard settop box... install was in june... pretty new equipment. What buzz word/ web site (other than this one) can I reference to get them to believe that it is just a STB push to enable? |

| reply to sssnake Note that the previous poster mentioned they have the following boxes: 6416-2 (HD-DVR) and 2500-2 (SD), which appear to be different from the earlier 6412-1 and 2500-1 boxes.
It appears??? that in order for the mutli room DVR feature you need the -2 suffix STB's???

The software upgrade supports both -1 and -2 boxes. The -2 refers to the second-generation version of the box.
I have not seen anyone post what the differences are, but since the output connections are the same, I assume the differences are in the memory and/or video chipset. The upgrade could have been made to improve performance with faster chipset/memory, or it could be a cost-cutting move, using newer/cheaper components.
Ptbarnett and Nocman -- You've both said FF doesn't work. Do you both have a 6416-2 and 2500-2? Johny H reported that FF does work with this older 6416-1 as a hub. It's possible the revision of the 6416 or the 2500 is a problem. |

So now I'm forced to watch commercials. You may have an issue. I am able to fast forward. I hadn't tried fast-forward until now. My experience is the same as NOCMan's: fast forward doesn't work. I get the circle/slash in the upper right corner, and playback pauses. Hitting play again restarts the program. I am shocked! Verizon releases a product and charges you full price but it does not work. Sound like my FiOS TV service, I have had it for more than 3 months and they still cant tell me why I have very poor SD picture quality, yet I get a full price bill in the mail every month. |

You might want to start a separate thread with your poor SD picture quality.
I have yet to see this, so you must have a unique issue!

I would expect the Verizon techs to fix it but they don't care. |

| reply to Johny H I'm in the process of setting up a Home Theater like an actual dedicated room here. Might try out this feature. I have a Tivo but I'm thinking of setting up the DVR box inside of the control center along with my Tivo on a Standard Box, So if i want to record something at the same time i can just switch the video signal to the DVR Verizon Box and Schedule it and flip back to the Tivo. -- Ricky SmithVerizon FIOS User15 Mbit Down 2 Mbit Up |

Part of the problem is that the complaints are never specific.
When reporting complaints, include your zip code, the channel number(s), the program name(s), and the time(s) when you experienced the problem.
Btw, make sure you have your TV's sharpness control turned to a low setting. The sharpness setting on a TV adds noise which can manifest itself as halos and mirrored outlines around images. |

| reply to NOCMan said by NOCMan :There are no consumer boxes out there capable of converting HD content to SD resolutions on the fly. On the contrary, I think every single HD box available can do it on the fly. Granted, I'm talking about analog output. But since there are also devices that can encode analog SD video to MPEG-2 on the fly (like a standalone Tivo), it would be quite easy to put the two together, and get a real-time HD->SD transcoder.
In fact, you can build an HD->SD MRV system yourself: cable box -> Tivo -> Ethernet -> Tivo. |

| reply to Johny H I think Time Warner has a leg up on FiOS with PhotoShow »content.rr.com/rr/rsh_users/docr···oshowtv/ Looks like it is comparable to MediaManager and it is Free to customers. |

join:2006-01-05 Dallas, TX | I want a Series 3 Tivo yesterday. I love the Fios TV service but the DVR is pretty poor compared to Tivo.
Plus, I wouldn't use the multi-room function much, so there's no way I'd pay $7/month for a software update. |
