Not all of that stuff is AV/Spyware/popup blockers

There are things like basic development tools, photo manipulation software and music access that Comcast provides for Windows folks that is being subsidized by people who can't run it if they wanted to.

That's the stuff that you'd think they could make a deal with someone for - some small share ware developer would happily provide a discount to get some more customers. It doesn't have to be the full Dreamweaver suite, but something would be nice.

Freebies are just that and if you can't use them - don't. You can still go out and buy a PC and have the use of these freebies. Just because your computer is not capable of using these freebies does not mean you should get a discount. Before you sign up, you are told what you need to run these freebies and a Mac is not it.

I recently switched from PC to Mac about 4 months ago...I also have Comcast HSI.

Even when I ran Windows, I wouldn't put that McAfee crapware on my PC. I had too much respect for it to do something as abominable as that.
