| Dialup through PrePaid Long Distance Card
I called Sympatico Tech Support and got some lady from India. Not only did she not provide me with any Yes or No answers, but she could not even understand what I was saying to her. What a waste of 15 minutes of my time. Anyways, I thought I'd get an answer quicker here anyways.
Situation:
- Going up north near Haliburton for 1 week - Dialup number is long distance (too far from Haliburton)
Now I have an International PrePaid Phone Card from AT&T laying around here with several hours left on it. To use it you have to dial the toll free number first, then a 10-digit PIN number, followed by the number you wish to dial.
Is it possible (under Windows XP) to create a dialup account that will make use of this phone card?
Thanks, Dave |

| reply to Dave54321 To use a calling card for long-distance dialing Open Phone and Modem Options in Control Panel. On the Dialing Rules tab, click the location to modify, and then click Edit. To create a new location, click New.
On the Calling Card tab, click the calling card you want to use. |

| mlerner,
Thank you very much, I appreciate your help.
I use Linux myself, and I have to setup these options on my sister's laptop with Windows XP. I don't have Windows on my computer to mess around with right now otherwise I would have poked around at it myself. I am not all that familiar with dialup connections anyways.
Once again, thank you. I am very pleased that this will work because I really had no idea if it was possible or not.
Cheers, Dave |

| reply to Dave54321 The other would be to add the correct amount of commas (,), after the digits that require dead air. Every comma is worth 1 second of pause.
So, you could to the following, for example: 18001112222,,,,,,,,
In case the other option doesn't work! -- "Well if it isn't Nathan Christopher Daypring Askani'son Summers... or are you just calling yourself Priscilla now?" |
