 [Team Mosquito-Net] Well...what to say?

Recently I've received some messages with votes from people who would like to see Team Mosquito-Net become part of Team Starfire World Boinc.

I asked for some time to make a decision about this issue, to think about a direction for this team. I mentioned to some of you that my real life is rather hectic at the moment and I wanted to catch up with all the things happening lately in the DC forums as well; I was glad that I was assured by some that "there's no rush" and to "take your time and decide".

I just noticed however, that the rush to do something was apparently still to great.

I must say that suddenly seeing, without any further signal or word, that 11 out of 14 members of Team Mosquito-Net have left, only to discover that an Team Starfire World Boinc has been created, feels quite similar to a sudden blow to ones stomach.

From the beginning I have done my best to listen to the wishes of all of you, willing to consider practically everything. Apparently the amount of respect was not entirely as mutual as I thought it was. It certainly disappoints me and I find it a pity that things have to go this way.

So, well... this makes the described decision also completely and instantly irrelevant. Many of you have chosen a certain path and I still wish you good luck and success on your endeavors.

Perhaps this is pretty much the end of a Team Mosquito-Net. I hope however that besides the current two team members and myself, that more people will give this wonderful project a chance. Knowing how many hundreds of millions people are affected by this disease every single year, I for one will certainly keep running it either here or on my own.

I hope however that it is still possible to get Team Mosquito-Net to grow once again, to able to apply for an official team status here at DSLR/BBR one day. After all, participating in projects like these is much more fun when it is a team effort!

TSWB formed out of a desire to be able to crunch any project we wished, as a team, without lobbying for official status and united under one team banner across all projects.

The great majority of Mosquito-Net's members were Team Starfire World BOINC members and we wanted to crunch all our projects as one team, so we spoke to you about changing the team name. You did explain that you needed time to consider the direction of Mosquito-Net. I must admit I was more impatient for a decision than how my message was worded. I did not want to pressure you as I could infer from your response that your decision could very possibly be no.

I was wrong for not notifying you we were leaving and why we were doing so. For that I truly am sorry. It was not my intent to hurt you in any way but I have and I sincerely apologize for that.

I believed that forming a new team would remove any pressure from you and you could then still pursue a BBR sponsored Malaria Control team known as Mosquito-Net, rather than feel pressured to change the team's name.

Again, I'm sorry I didn't communicate better with you, Starfish. It was wrong of me and I regret it.

Starfish, I think you knew my feelings on the matter, and I had already left the team. I was uncomfortable with the links back to BBR in the description of the team since I don't crunch here anymore.

We jumped too fast on this, and I'm sorry for that. Things have been moving fast at TSWB.org. We'd love to have your club take the place of ours if that's what you want, and all of the members would jump right back to it if you came with us.

If you wish to stay here at BBR and persue official status, we completely respect that too. The decision is yours, and take all the time you need.

m00kie, first of all I want to thank you for your clarification. I am aware that the great majority consisted out of TSWB members and I can certainly imagine that all of you wanted to move on.

I was as mentioned indeed under the impression that I had a bit more time, judging by the messages I received from various TSWB members. I guess that explains my rather big surprise yesterday.

I can certainly appreciate this line of thought, although a bit more communication would have been nice.

Now, I don't think it adds much by discussing too long over all of this. I certainly accept your apologies and I have respect for the fact that you have posted this message, while it was also possible to just completely ignore my post. There are no hard feelings here.

As mentioned in my first post, I wish all of you good luck on your journey!
