Verizon is selling unlimited access - not unlimited bandwidth. It's pretty clear on their web site. Plus, the following terms are clearly spelled out:
Unlimited NationalAccess/BroadbandAccess: Subject to VZAccess Acceptable Use Policy, available on www.verizonwireless.com. NationalAccess and BroadbandAccess data sessions may be used with wireless devices for the following purposes: (i) Internet browsing; (ii) email; and (iii) intranet access (including access to corporate intranets, email and individual productivity applications like customer relationship management, sales force and field service automation). Unlimited NationalAccess/BroadbandAccess services cannot be used (1) for uploading, downloading or streaming of movies, music or games, (2) with server devices or with host computer applications, including, but not limited to, Web camera posts or broadcasts, automatic data feeds, Voice over IP (VoIP), automated machine-to-machine connections, or peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing, or (3) as a substitute or backup for private lines or dedicated data connections. NationalAccess/BroadbandAccess is for individual use only and is not for resale. We reserve right to limit throughput or amount of data transferred, deny or terminate service, without notice, to anyone we believe is using NationalAccess or BroadbandAccess in any manner prohibited above or whose usage adversely impacts our network or service levels. Verizon Wireless reserves the right to protect its network from harm, which may impact legitimate data flows. We also reserve the right to terminate service upon expiration of Customer Agreement term.
I'm not a Verizon fan but you can't really complain here. It took me all of 2 minutes to find this on the web site. If you don't like it, then do business with a more reasonable company. |

1 edit | It still does not list the limitation specifically. Reservation of right is not explicit in stating that said reservation is always in place at some predetermined point.
And, I just have to point out: "unlimited access" isn't, when access grants nothing.
They really need to learn to set the limitations properly within their own legal documentation, so people are not intentionally misled. |

Unlimited access. Limited transfers and throughput.
We're talking about Verizon here. WTF do you expect? |

| Perhaps you should re-read my post.
In particular, ""unlimited access" isn't, when access grants nothing." By definition, you do not have access if there is nothing able to be accessed.
They need to address their wording, redressing "unlimited" with something more appropriate (like, "limited"), and they need to state the limitations so that consumers can decide whether or not the limitation is appropriate, prior to sale and during contract period. |

Are you an actual customer?
Did you use 10GB and get kicked off?
What were you doing that used 10GB? |

| If you're kicked off for useage, you're not getting unlimited access. Your connection will not be active "24x7" should you surpass the data limitation, whether it be by termination (obviously fair, in cases of abuse) or by discontinuing service until a new pay period (not fair, and misleading).
No, I'm not a customer. I advocate companies actually stating and disclosing their limitations on service, as they are really rather important. |

What they are technically getting people for is not for exceeding some (unstated) quota, but for violating the TOS. They specifically disallow things like Slingbox. In fact, they disallow pretty much everything other than checking e-mail, work-related productivity tools, and Web browsing. If you are actually want to USE the higher EV-DO bandwidth, you are supposed to buy their $$$ V-Cast Music and Video, and buy ringtones and such with GetItNow. |

Are you even reading what I've posted? |
