| Feasibility of this link??
I am looking into setting up a point to point wireless link (possibly hosting clients off of site B) and I was wondering how feasible this link would be. Keep in mind that I am completely new at this... and mainly am just trying to determine the feasibility.. aka... be kind
We are located in the area that SBC forgot.. about 1/4 mile out of range for Cable Modem service and between 1/2 mile (north) and 2 miles (south.. towards town) from DSL service.
I have heard in the past that 2.4ghz does not play well with trees but 900mhz does and I was reading some information on the SuperRange9 card (including the posts here) and a wireless link gained my interest once again. Currently I do not have hardware required. But I do have a 40' tower at "Site A" and have some tri-mast that can be used to construct a tower at "Site B".
Here is some information on the proposed site locations: Site A: Lat: 30.80779 Long: -95.57283
Site B: Lat: 30.77885 Long: -95.55803
The links are approx. two miles apart from each other with trees disrupting LOS for the possible link.
Do you think this would be feasible? What type of antenna would you suggest for this?
Thanks in advance. Have a great day. |

If the trees are taller than 40ft, even 1/2 mile (2500ft) link may not be feasible at 2.4Ghz, but there is a low-cost 900Mhz option that may work for you. |

Thank you for your help. |

| reply to normano Sorry I haven't been much help with RM lately! Between home improvements, office move and foliage issues, I have been swamped to say the least! Anyway, here is RM's projection of 900 and 2.4 with 75% tree coverage and 40'agl on both ends. -- Every dog has his day, but good dogs have two! |
