| reply to SadMan6 Re: RT31P2 Unlock thoughts??
The Voice section is very similar but there are enough differences that make them unswappable. I've tried to load the VM from the RT31P2 onto a PAP2 and it causes a constant reboot of the device right after getting an IP. Also, the RT31P2 doesn't have a user/admin mode or basic/advanced mode, it's admin/advanced all the time. |

I assume it will be too hard to measure if the voltage on pin 96 of ES3890 is the one causing the reset (falling to low) Then if that is true put some wire and connect pin 96 of ES3890 to +5V (disable external reset) ? |

I pulled the VM chip and wiped out the vonage configuration, so now it's totally unlocked. I've also identified the area that I want to mod so I'll do that today at work. I'm also bringing another RT31P2 that I know the vonage admin password to so I can double check my work. |

| Dear meister_sd, I would like to do some stuff that you do (Right now I feel like I am talking and you are working): 1. unsolder the chip 2. reprogram 3 solder back the chip. Since you have made this, can you please post some links, make a list of equipment that you are using or you recommend (like solder kit, EPROM programmer,...) I do not promise that I will buy them (especially if the price is like 300$) but I do want to try.
Thank you ! |

The programmer I use is from sivava.com: »www.sivava.com/Product_A04.htm I also bought the adapter kit: Adapter SET TSOP48 Socket (All-in-one) »www.sivava.com/Product_T.htm If you cannot afford the whole kit, then you will at least need to buy adapter T01 to hold the chip, adapter T05 to read the PAP2 and RT31P2 Voice chip and adapter T08 to read the RT31P2 Router and SPA2002.
To take the chip off, I use the tutorial: »alphazee.webstrikesolutions.com/···rial.htm And at the bottom is a link on how to put on a socket for development, which I have on my PAP2 and RT31P2. To make the chip easy to remove, I use ChipQuick: »www.emulation.com/catalog/off-th···uik.html I bought mine from Fry's Electronics, but you can order online too.
To read/write the RT31P2 Voice chip or PAP2, select Am28F080 using the Willem software supplied with the programmer. If you have this setup, you can totally unlock any PAP2, RT31P2, WRT54GP2, SPA2002, probably any other Sipura product, and other Linksys/Cisco adapter. The ones above I have done personally. The RTP300/WRTP54G can be unlocked using IE and a little fast keyboard action, but those will still lock after a factory reset where mine won't that have been reprogrammed. The RT41P2 and the newer WRT54GP2A (4 port) cannot be read by the Willem adapter as it is a TSOP 56 and the largest the programmer can read is the TSOP 48.
You have to be very careful when removing the chips and putting them back on as you can burn the board very easy. Traces lift very easy on the router section of the RT31P2 and the chip of the SPA2002. The PAP2 is the easiest to work with.
This setup isn't cheap, but it's fun. I've got some people helping me and I've learned alot with all the help I've received. People on this board are very willing to help you if you also give back and take the time to learn a little yourself. |

| I've read all the thread and seem to start understanding the problem that might happen to me. I'm about to buy RT31P2 from our (Russian) Linksys's distributer, when ordering the unit I was not aware of "[un]locking" problems...
I'm able to unsolder the FLASH if it's nesessary. If my unit turns to be -NA, I'll probably will not do it. But if it happens to be locked - which addresses should I erase in it? |
