Re: Its a lawless town, in D.C.

The FCC rarely enforces their own rules these days. Why does anyone think they'd take this one on?

One of these days, they'll have to do something.

Well, maybe if we say that there's boobies being shown by the NSA, we'll have some FCC action.

Now there's an idea. I think you could clearly illustrate that the number of boobs in this fiasco is a threat to the very moral fabric of our society.

Most of the people in the NSA, as well as the entire government, ARE boobs. Shouldn't that count for something?

Sad, but true.

As much as I dislike most of what the FCC does, I think the commissioner is right.

If you are going to make an allegation that the NSA is illegally plying their trade domestically it would have to be heard in the FISA court since they are the only judiciary with the necessary clearances. If the FISA court determines it does involve national security you likely won't hear anything about it.

I also think this has turned into a debate that can't be won by either side just like the debate on the existence of UFOs. Even if this makes it into the courts and the courts find it didn't happen, some will continue to believe the call records were turned over, simply because they are partisan or they don't trust the government.

On the other hand if the law was really broken and there is proof that extends beyond hearsay and innuendo, those responsible should be held to account.

I think the Dems will win in this one by continuing to talk about it. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a complete violation of constiutional authority.

A good picture of USA, Inc.

When in doubt as to the legality, slap "top secret" on it!

Wow, 8 posts until the Bush bashing started? You guys are slipping! I was expecting the first or second post to blame Bush. By the 8th, you should have moved on to Ashcroft, or Rummy. This place ain't what it used to be.....

Re: A good picture of USA, Inc.

Glenn, you need to keep track of more things to keep it interesting.

You could double dip and keeping score on how many news posts on a given day until there is one that is bashing an administration program (or alleged program) or abuse (or alleged abuse), and then count the number of comments until there is a Bush rant.

Or triple dip: and count the number of news posts until a news post involving 1) a law suite 2) a program or abuse of the Bush administration (alleged or otherwise), and 3) a Bush bash.

Perhaps you could make a rating system using smileys?

Edited your post to reflect the reality of the
situation. It is no longer government by the people,
of the people and for the people, but rather by the
corporation, of the corporation, and for the corporation.

Umm... Far from "commie". More accurate would be the "Corporate/Fascist States of America".
