As for the DVD/flying to Hong Kong story, I did some calculations assuming I was using the 1Mbps service above. 1GB is 8000mbits. It would take a little over 2 hours to download 1GB. Unless it took more than 30 days to do the download, the costs (including installation) would be about $170. According to Cathay Pacific's website, the cost of flying round trip from Johannesburg to Hong Kong is 13159 South African Rand, or about $2028.37. Of course, this assumes a trip leaving this Saturday and returning on Tuesday, but I think the premise of that original article is way off. -- Tancredo 2008!
