Virtual Number - Full Refund?

Does anyone know if Vonage would give me a FULL refund on a virtual number, including the $9.99 activation fee? Here's why I'm asking:

Last night I was looking at the Vonage site and saw my tiny little hometown was now listed as having phone numbers. I figured I'd add a virtual number so that my mom, grandma, & other family could call me with a local number. I logged into my account and went through everything to add a virtual number. I asked for a number in my hometown (Salem, OH). The problem I found is that it doesn't show you the actual number you're getting (or at least the area code/exchange if not the whole number) until you're completely done with the order process.

After I completed the order and got the number, I immediately knew it wasn't a number from my hometown because they only have two exchanges there. I checked the number that I was given for my hometown, and it was actually a Canfield, OH phone number. It's local toll, not local, to call Canfield from my hometown so I immediately went in (within 5 minutes of getting the number) and cancelled it. The number was never given out to anyone or called by anyone. If I would have known it was going to be a Canfield number before I completed the order, I would have never gone through with the order.

I feel that Vonage should refund me for the monthly charges AND the activation fee, as I had no way of knowing I was not going to get a Salem number before the order was completed. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Any ideas on what my chances are of getting the activation fee refunded?

I think it depends on which rep you get but I haven't had a lot of luck with getting any charges waived by Vonage. The only charge they waived for me was the phone number change when my port didn't go through after two months and I took one of their numbers instead.

I had a situation similar to yours but not quite. I was going to get an 800 # so my relatives could call me for free since my tiny hometown didn't have a local number either. I asked that since they offered NO PHONE NUMBERS at all in the ENTIRE area code of 906 could they please at least waive the 800# activation charge. The guy told me basically no way were they able to do that. I said fine then forget the 800# so all of my relatives just call me and hang up and I call them back. I guess they didn't want the extra $4.99 a month that much for the 800# since they wouldn't waive the $9.99 activation. They could have made that activation charge back with two months of usage but they wouldn't do it for me so I didn't get the 800#.

Well...after 31 minutes on hold I got a full refund...including the activation fee. I didn't even ask for the activation fee to be refunded. I just waited for him to tell me how much my credit was going to be, and the amount he gave me was the total amount.
