Need help? Information to include in your post.

What you should include in your post

•1. Your WISP's name
•2. Your WISP's claimed speeds you should receive
3. The manufacture of the equipment the WISP has provided you with
•4. How far you are from the WISP's Access Point
•5. The frequency your equipment uses (e.g 900Mhz, 2.4/5.8Ghz ect.)

•6. The dBi of the antenna your equipment uses
•7. Do the issues happen at all times of the day, or only at peak usage hours?

Some things you should check before posting:

1. Is your computer free of spyware, Virues, or any other programs that can use bandwidth?
•2. If your having problems, have you talked to any neighbors that experience it also?
3. Run a Line test »/linequality , you can link the results in your post
•4. Try a program such as Ping Plotter and post your results after at least a 2-24 hour period. Or you can use the site tool »/schedule
•5. Power off any phone, router, baby monitor, ect. that is using the same frequency as your WISP gear.
•6. Some hardware allows you to check the signal quality (listed in dBm e.g -45 dBm, lower means better), if you can list this in your post.
•7. Have you had heavy rainfall before troubles? Rain itself will not cause issues, but if moisture has leaked into the connectors it will cause problems
•8. Do you have trees or other obstructions blocking you from achieving Line Of Sight(LOS) to the Access Point? Any frequencies higher than 900Mhz will be affected by this

Re: Information to include in your post

Common acronyms and terms:

•AP - Access Point, radio that CPE's connect to
•CPE - Consumer Premises Equipment, installed at a customers location
•LOS - Line Of Sight, used to describe the visual sight between the CPE and AP
•POE - Power over Ethernet, power sent through Ethernet to CPE via POE injector
•SCADA - Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition, most often used by gas and electric companies to monitor remote locations via wireless. Most commonly on 900Mhz, which can cause severe interference on 900Mhz gear.
•Fresnel zone - The Area around a wireless link that radio waves spread out into after they leave the antennas that is more important in frequencies higher than 900Mhz »www.avalanwireless.com/faqs.htm#WhatFresnel
•Fixed wireless - Wireless that uses proprietary equipment provided by a WISP to customers.
•QOS - Quality of Service, where enabled can limit the amount of bandwidth that is used to leave enough space for other time sensitive services such as VoIP.

Ping plotter results:

To post the results of the ping test it is best to use an image. To do this simply go Edit } Copy as Image.
Then open Paint to make the Image. Start } All Programs/Programs } Accessories } Paint.
Once Paint opens Hold Ctrl and V to paste the results. Then in Paint hit Ctrl and S, save it to a location such as your desktop as either a .JPG or.PNG and upload it into your post

I also recommend that you change the Samples to Include to something like 150 or ALL if your running it for many hours.
You can also right click in the PP program and enable all the checks, this will provide even more statistics
That's it!
