said by Anonymous :I wonder what the 'lease upgrade fee' will be. I just left DISH for comcast (heaven help me) because of the "lease upgrade fee" for their HD-DVR - $299. Yes, $299 to upgrade AND YOU DON'T EVEN OWN THE BOX!
I told them I would stay if they waived the "upgrade" fee, but they wouldn't do it.
Not upgrading isn't really an option, unless you don't want any of the programming that is ONLY available in mpeg4 - local HD channels over the sat, all new HD programming.
It's too bad, 'cause I liked DISH, but comcast now offers more for less. |

There are those that purchase the service and pay their monthly rates like everyone else for service provided. Then there are those that feel more important than the rest of us and "entitled" to something that the general public isn't.. Those people are the ones that help keep rates higher for the rest of us. Why? Does anyone think that those discounts come out of no where? nope. These discounts are an expense to the company and they have to come somewhere.
Everyone else, please thank these "I want it free" or "waive this or I am leaving" people in part for why your rates do go up in a competitive world. |

And they charge $5 extra for locals. thats plain wrong. why would anyone pay for locals when they can get them free with an antenna? cable gives locals free thank god. -- You can never be too rich, too thin or have too much Bandwidth |

I agree, but I place the blame squarely on the providers themselves. I'm fed up with "new customer" and "retention" deals. Why is paying a reasonable monthly price too much to ask? -- \\ROB - a part of the SCB local network |
