The Broadcast Flag says that if you want to build a device that can receive, pass along, or record a digital TV signal, you'll need to show that it won't disrupt the current entertainment company business. That's a test that the remote control, the VCR, the capture card, and the PVR all would have failed. In other words, don't touch our content you lying, cheating, stealing customers! That goes for you too, you innovative upstart company!! How DARE you try to make money on a device that does something with OUR PRECIOUS CONTENT!!!

Exactly! The broadcast flag will just kill Fair Use. It's almost like they think the VCR allows to much Fair Use and want to restrict the crap out of it to squeeze the customer for every last penny.

| Not that the USF isn't important, but I would be more concerned with broadcast flag legislation attached. This bill has a pretty good chance of going through because of the franchise aspect and I wouldn't want to see more stupid restrictive laws placed on an already crippled part of technology. |
