I know this is real OT, however I am trying to help my parents with replacing their PC as it has had its last breath. It was an old 600Mhz PIII so I am trying to save them some money as they are on a fixed income.

These are links which were included in the embedded email from Dell. They do look funny, but they're the real deal. I'm sure that you need these in order to get to the jump page.

What model are you looking for? It looks like Dell has 34% off alot of their models now on the website.
The only 40% off coupon I found doesn't apply to XPS systems.

| Go to a local computer repair shop and ask for a unit that had a meltdown (I saw one shop with a Packard-Bell that melted down so good, all the chip were desoldered from the boards and lying in the bottom of the case!).
Bring it home and show it to your better half!

Go for the 820. Stock times for it should be much better than for even the 650 and it's cheaper.

I have two new Dells a XPS400 PentD 830 3.0g and a E310 Pent4 HT 3.2 the PentD has a RAC of 2189 and the Pent4 has a RAC of 1447. Both have DDR2 533 memory 1g for the E310 and 3g for the XPS.
Both are solid systems with a good performence. But the PentD's have the edge over P4's/HT of the same speed and possibly over the next two higher Pent4's.

For those that have ordered systems from Dell before, I'm showing the systems estimated ship date as April 19, is this usually the hard date or is it possible for it to go out earlier? Under its status it is currently in the 'testing' phase.

From order to receive took about six days. Both times for me. They were recent orders and received on Dec 22 2005 and March 10 of 2006.
The 3 to 5 day shipping window took 3 days for my actual delivery from UPS but Dell used the 5 day for a delivery date to be safe about the actual delivery
