Er, you realize that you don't have to download the patch using the bittorrent client right? You can easily find another free webserver to download the latest patch from. Yes, you can argue that you shouldn't need to but it's not like no other options exist for people. I do agree that they went too far with the BT background downloader and it should be changed (unless they provide discounts for their subscriptions based on how much you upload - of course, this would lead to many other troublesome problems) but somehow I'm feeling you just have something against WoW and want to make a crusade out of it. |

1 edit | WTF? No, I have something against *ANY* game manager software that has to be on my machine just so I can play a game. Not happening!
Whether it is Blizzard/Steam/whatever, it's bullshit! Blizzard just totally stepped in it with this BT uploading fiasco!
As I said, if any of you don't mind a manager just to play a game... Go For it! Not for me! -- Think outside the Fox... Opera |

| That's the thing -- It doesn't -have- to be on your machine. You can delete it. You can quickly and easily download the patch from filefront and apply it.
That aside, WoW is boring anyway. -- Learn about Real ID and why it's so horrible. |

Does nothing in this case sorry to say.
When you boot WoW now, the client starts up with it in the background. So long as you're playing, its allowed to upload.
In some cases, the process doesn't terminate and you'll still see it uploading as well. Ugh. If you read the forum thread linked, you'll see people talking about this point.
The crap bliz did this time is outright shady. You can't disable it, as it re-enables next time opened.
If they made it voluntary, and even better, gave discounts because you're saving them bandwidth....that'd be one thing. They do no such thing. You deal with the headache, they rake in the cash. |

| reply to dadkins Sounds like someone is a cheater and a warez user.
The those are the only conceivable reasons for being against the steam system. It's main reasons (besides convenient and efficient distribution of the software) are to prevent piracy of the software, and cheating within the software. |
