In fact I would go so far as to say that Blizzard has really set themselves apart from what a typical game company does for distributing updates for their flagship product, and not in a good way.

It's unfortunate that these companies get away with things like this because your average joe doesn't have a clue to what's going on. | you have no choice but to down load the pathches to play. if you try to log in and dont have the newest patch you HAVE to download it or you cant play. all other MMORPGs are the same way.
you cant play without the current version because all of the game infomation is on your machine but all the content comes from their servers, you just cant play without matching...
so why worry about it automatically patching? |

| Because it is installed without the users knowledge or permission, and autoruns itself and will continue to run in the background saturating your upload as you play. At least they can blame their horrible network lag on something else now, instead of actually, you know, fixing the problem!! |
