You know, I'm really torn on this one. On one hand, it's really nice when you don't have this big ugly device sitting next to your TV, and it's especially nice when you have transparent, remotely managed services available for a fair price. Simple is elegant, in my opinion.
The problem comes in choice. Users should have a choice as to whether or not they get remote, managed service or a local upgradable device. Perhaps in the long run there isn't any difference between the two, so long as the price for the service remains in check, which can only occur if devices remain available....oh the irony!
