| Mac/PC network question
I have 5 PC's and a I-MAC in my home. All are connected to my network. The Mac sees all the Pc's but the PC's dont see the MAC...anything I can do to make this work?...I want to share files from the MAC to the PC's. If you need other info please ask. |

1 edit | Go to System Preferences (in Dock or Apple Menu) go to Sharing and enable Windows File Sharing. Incidentally this will share whatever is in the Public folder of your using account. If you want to add shares you should Google for "SharePoints" which is a utility that lets you add additional shares.

Sometimes it helps to put all the computers in the same workgroup. Use Directory Access on the Mac and right-click on the My Computer on the PC and add them to the same workgroup (choose something different than the default Windows workgroup for security's sake).
Also, I have found it to be a lot faster for transfers when you map the drives in XP vs. browsing. Just map the drive to the IP address and the sharepoint.

| Yeah my recommendation would be to map to IP - sorry I forgot all about the Workgroups (haven't touched Windows networking in so long) but you should still be able to find each other with a little bit of elbow grease.
