@tn.charter

Is there anything else out there?

Our business has been approached by NEN since we're trying to connect all of our 15 convenience stores to a central network. Our goal is to be able to connect all these stores to our office, switch from a dialup connection we have now to a faster one, and be able to see all that's happening in terms of the business itself in real time (inventory, sales, gas sales, etc.) and offer a faster credit/debit card processing for our customers. They say they are even able to hook our video surveillance cameras to this network and in simpler words, have almost everything done from the office and sent to the stores instead of us waiting for stores to send their data and then try to understand it. However, I'm amazed that while doing a search for competing companies I can't come across any other. How come? What they're offering us is a VPN over Frame Relay for some stores but mostly it'll be ASDSL. Now the price is really affordable at about $189 per location for the service, I think... Could somebody here explain to me if there's another company that will be able to help us achieve these goals? Thanks!

From what I can see you are trying to do multiple things:

1) Create VPNs for each of your stores to your Company Headquarters.
2) Create faster Point of Sales through a dedicated Internet connection (DSL, T1, Cable Modem, etc) with a back-up dial-up connection.
3) Allow live real time monitoring of your Store activities.
4) Security Monitoring of stores.

I highly doubt that NEN can do all of these things for you at a mere $189 per store. I'm assuming this may be a monthly fee on top of which you will pay for equipment costs (routers, modems, etc) and any misc expenses such as hardware setup and my favorite, "consulting" fees. This is especially true if you do not have your own IT group who takes care of your IT needs.
