Stand Alone Cable

I still can't get over how much a stand-alone cable broadband line costs if you don't want to pile on the services.

$45 through Time Warner, much more through Comcast I think. This bundle-madness irritates me.

$59.99 from Time Warner in New York City if you have the "el-cheapo" TV tier.

Would I kid anyone?
That's why I dumped it from my NY apartment.
I now have DSL at 3.0 X 768 and it is much fater than TWC ever was.
59.99 if you have Basic cable, $44.95 if you subscribe to the next tier of TV. The 59.99 is really ridiculous.
Here's a snippet taken directly from their web site:

With Wireless Road Runner you can now enjoy the mobility and flexibility of Road Runner in any room in your home without being connected to a cable modem. We provide installation and support of a wireless modem and up to 5 wireless connections all for the low monthly rate of $4.95* (*Note: This rate is in addition to the regular RR monthly rate of $44.95 for standard customers, or $59.95 for basic-only or non-cable customers). Activation charge is $80.45 for up to 2 wireless connections, and $49.95 for each additional connection, up to 5 connections. Each subsequent visit for additional connections is $80.45 (not to exceed a total of 5 connections).

I don't have cable TV. Charter out here offers almost $70/month for just the internet with no TV.

Adelphia standalone @6000/768 = 60$ here in NH. Just dumped it for VZ 3000/768 for 30$. I'll miss the down speed on occassion, but not 30$/mo worth of missing. VZ should be more stable: I can see the CO from my kitchen window. With my glasses off.
