[HELP] Cisco and Optusnet Australia

Hi Oz members,

A pom here needing some help please. I'm trying to assist a work colleague in Melbourne to set up a Cisco 837 router with an Optusnet ADSL business connection using a static IP address. Does anyone have a working configuration for any model Cisco ADSL router less IP addresses and private information that I could crib from?

Cheers and thanks in advance.

Re: [HELP] Cisco and Optusnet Australia

Yes I did and I have experience of configuring various Cisco models (97,837,1721 etc.) for ADSL service here in the UK with different ISPs.

The issue with my colleague in Melbourne is that neither of us has any awareness of the many available configuration variables. OptusNet support doesn't extend to Cisco routers, nor do they have any example configurations. So far we have been able to bring up the connection through the CLI, but it does not receive the correct statically assigned IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/32 when using IP address negotiation.

Using SDM Express has not worked, it will not open correctly using IE or Firefox with the correct Java installation, hence having to use the CLI.

For the SDM errors, you need to go into IE's internet options and then to the advanced tab. Look for a line that says: Allow active content to run files on my computer. Click this on and SDM should run.

Is there connection PPoE or DHCP?
