Re: [Newsgroups] use up ur monthly 2gb limit? try

even if this loophole wasnt posted, im sure comcast already knows that people can do it and if they were going to do anything about it, they probably would have done so long ago-the truth is that the probably dont really care if people do it as long as they get some money out of them every month

Welcome to Post

@fl.us
It was posted on the Comcast site forums, and immediately deleted by Jason1. Apparently they don't want it to become common knowledge. It isn't; this thread was the first I heard about it, so I'm sure going to try it!

You sure its "taking"? You mean they come and forcefully take that money each month? Or did you mean the money you willingly give them? You act like its the Comstapo....

Just like another user commented that he should get a discount for being a long time customer.

I wish my electric/water co's did this.

It's cheating for one, and quite possibly theft...and I now understand why the mods left this open for people to read...you all know it's not right to do, and the reasoning that "well Comcast screws us" doesn't hold water

TW has bundle DISCOUNTS also. Yea, their UNLIMiTED news server has terrible retention rate and very high incompletes.

So, from a fellow Cheap Shot Artist (I guess because we don't agree with you apparently)

Yeah that works, but what a pain...I would expect them to close the loophole, though, as Comcast reads these forums regularly...
Just get a newsgroup account. I use Giganews, they rock. Lightning fast downloads, 1 meg/sec here. Well worth the money, IMO.

I have friends on comcast that don't use newsgroups so they allow me to use thier accounts.I would hate messing with changing addy's just to get more downloads.

when u create a new email for more downloads, u can still use your original for ur email since comcast allows u to have up to 7 email acounts total-for example, if the email u have is 123@comcast.net and u use up your newsgroup limit, u then make another email, abc@comcast.net, but u still have your 123 email that u can still send and receive emails with-your just using the abc one for newsgroups-its really not that much of a pain-takes about 2 minutes total to make a new email, change it to primary, and change the info in my newsreader

You must be dirt poor if you can't afford a $15/month newsgroup account...

I agree too what is 15 dollars a month for unlimited news servers? if your using news servers alot it's a great thing. I don't understand why you want to waste your time with making 7 e-mail addresses. Besides I could kill 14 gigs in a night or two. Get newshoting bottom line.

well, i dont download every day and the most ive used up my limit is no more than 2 or 3 times in a month so to me its not worth paying extra for unless im going to be downloading tons of gb every month-also, ill go some months without using newsgroups at all-either way,we can sit and argue about this until the world ends, but it really doesnt matter because as long as its not against the rules, im not going to feel guilty or worry about it

I'd say it IS against the rules.

from »www.comcast.net/terms/use.jsp in the NEWSGROUP section:

Comcast permits users of the Service to download a maximum of two gigabytes (2GB) of newsgroup content in any one month, unless users are subject to a Service plan that permits downloading more newsgroup content.

My guess would be you spoke to someone not versed in Terms Of Service.

Just pay your $15.00 per month for a unlimited Usenet account.
Exactly what I have. =)
