i must be missing something. efax charges for sending faxes, not receiving them. e.g. receiving efax faxes is $0/month, which is less than the $6/month you're describing?

The $6/month is only for a virtual number!! If you want to use your current line there is no charge! The only problem is just like landline faxing, if you pick up the phone the fax will be disrupted. This is why I suggested a virtual number. Without the virtual number it would be $0 extra per month.
