| [X] Eavesdrop - How to use it?
Hi all,
For the Eavesdrop packe sniffer, how do I set the filter so that it tracks ICMP and UDP packets? Is there some other comparable GUI-based PS (not too comfortable with tcpdump)? I tried to install the Fink package to install ethereal...Fink couldn't install etheral because the system is missing another package.
I'm trying to sniff packets originating from a G5 tower with Panther.

| I've never used Eavesdrop, but the webpage claims it monitors only TCP traffic. If that's true, you can't monitor UDP or ICMP.
Try installing DarwinPorts and install Ethereal from there. Do all the DarwinPorts updates first. I've never had trouble with it.

| Hmmm, there's an option in the settings menu to listen in on other packets (I think). I'll look into DarwinPorts.
What I really need is to find out what kind of traffic is coming out from the server, and what program is generating that traffic. AFAIK, Ethereal doesn't track the apps, but any help/suggestions for Mac is most welcome.
