That doesn't mean it isn't important. Just not important enough to be a utility.
But the real reason people want to rush to classify broadband as a utility has little to do with putting any sort of metrics on its value in people's lives and more to do with forcing the providers hands. Utility = regulation = moves that may (or may not?) be good for the consumer, but bad for the company. -- home |
