[Help Me] DI-604 Cannot access "admin" account

I'm using a DI-604 with the firmware provided by Verizon FIOS (Firmware Version: 1.07DDM). Once I assign a password to the "user" account I cannot access the "admin" account anymore. I have to do a hard reset to factory defaults to be able to access the admin account again with the default password. Shouldn't I be able to access both accounts ? They both work initially when the user account password is blank.... unfortunately the D-Link Router Connection Monitor 1.6.6 requires a password (not blank) in the user account. Is this a known issue?

No, it is not a known issue (AFAIK).

Does it work correctly if you first configure an admin password, and then configure a user password?

If you log on using the user password, can you later logon to the admin password if you close all browser windows between sessions?

No. Even if you first assign an admin password.... once you type in a user password you cannot go back.

No you cannot.

Perhaps it would work better if you tried firmware from D-Link's support site? I'd link to one directly but I don't know what revision you have so I'd better not. »support.dlink.com

I don't know the deal with Verizon, if there's something special in the firmware, or if they tell you not to change it, but I really doubt it matters. Nevertheless, I guess you should ask them if it will screw anything up first.

The Verizon firmware appears to be here. I have no way to confirm it, though...

funchords,
I think you are correct. That seems to be the firmware. The version numbers are the same. I cannot confirm it either since the Verizon site does not allow you to download the file - only upgrade directly through their server. Also the the designation VDI604 matches the name Verizon uses for the router.

I guess I could always go back to may old generic DI604 ...but I was just curious and don't really want to mess with it. It is working really great otherwise. Thanks for your input.

Try
»ftp://ftp.dlink.de/di/
for the latest firmware for DLink.

More as one router is listed there.
Be carefull however with the hardware versions DI604-Bx and DI604-Dx...

Yes, those are for 604 for Europe and ME and AU.
