[northeast] Just submitted formal complaint with Penn. PUC

I just had to submit a formal complaint with the Pennsylvania PUC over VZ's inability to get FIOS installed. The problem is that their subcontractors can't seem to run a 40' run to my house.

It's amazing, because our entire neighborhood was fiber'd several months ago. The VZ website said the tech would be out on 12/22. He was, but there was nothing to hook up because their friggin' contracter (Danella) didn't do the work.

Am I the only one with such a problem?

I don't know if anybody else has the same issue, but I can almost predict the outcome... the PUC will probably ask whether you can be served by copper, for now, and Verizon'll say yes, and they'll say that's compliant with the universal service rules... essentially, unless there's been a major change since I was really up on the regs, so many years ago, the rule is that an ILEC is only required to deliver POTS to residents in its territories. On the other hand, Verizon really, really wants to sell FIOS service, from what I've seen around here. If they're not helping you out in the orders department, you might want to file a complaint with (it used to be called "Presidential Appeals", now I think it's called) support escalation ... here's my logic. They've called me several times, already, and they've gone to the expense of sending out UPS two day letters advertising the availability. That tells me they're hoping to get people signed up... we have the escallation number, somewhere, I'll see if I can find it for you, or, hopefully, somebody'll jump in with it. Verizon's got a big investment in fiberization, so I really think that, if you bring it to the attention of a senior or management level member of Verizon's support staff, they'll probably be a little more enthusiastic about helping you than the contractors at the order desk... of course, if you've already exhausted this avenue, I can only wish you the best of luck getting things straightened up. Hope you get it worked out.

 VZ and their subcontractors

Just got off the phone with a manger in the Rhode Island call center.

Apparently, VZ has been having a LOT of problems with their subcontractor that works the western burbs of Philly. Essentially, the contractor just isn't showing up. They aren't answering their phone either (trust me, I waited 10 minutes on the phone witht he VZ manager who called the contractor herself).

VZ has now told the contractor that they must do the cable run tomorrow, and I'm set up for a Saturday tech visit to get everything set up.

I'm hoping for the best, and I just wish that VZ didn't use subcontractors. Everybody I've worked with on the VZ end has been great and as frustrated as I have been.

Re: [northeast] Just submitted formal complaint wi

I have heard many of stories of when other companies have used sub contractors. They dont get paided if the job isnt finished, so if they dont show up at your house, they get no money for the job. I was talking ot my uncle who works for Cox and a couple of years back when installs were like backed up for like months, I heard many of horror stories about sub contrators they had to hire.

Well, I hope that your install goes well tomorrrow and hope he shows. I would keep a record of all the dates of when people showed if he doesnt show tomorrow.

I had the same problem. Keep calling the fiber solutions center and having them call the dispatch office.
