Will they still come and install? We also had a snow storm today and snow will still be there on Monday probably. Do I need to start drinking more coolaid so they can find their way?:D

I'm assuming if they can get to the location they need to they will do the install. When my install was done, it was a but raw out and the tech was worried about doing this in really cold weather. They are used to being outside but not for such a long extended period they are when they do each install. He equated a FIOS install to doing a new home... not a quick job.

We will be there trust me, as it is in the copper world rain sleet or snow a Verizon tech will show. I have been working in Northern Va for the last week very cold snowing and sleeting but we still worked daily from 7:30 Am to 11:30 at night the hardest part of the job when it gets that cold and snowy is finding those darn hand holds as they are not always where the order says they are good luck on your up comming install fios rocks and i can wait till i can get it.

Interesting, the same situation applies for my daughter in Downingtown, PA.

Monday install, colder than heck but there may be conduit already in place that they can use for the fiber.

Do you guys do runs behind walls? I might have a pretty difficult run, its from a garage that is 18 foot high and then about a 30 foot run to the center of the house.:(

Yes some of us do to appease the customer, and to make our jobs look professiona, as it is not Verizon Management to fish walls as you know if the wall is outside it is more difficult because of insulation and the possibility of fire breaks in the walls now if there are two techs you will probably be in luck as i just fished a wall from the attic and placed a wall jack in Reston Va Friday.

Just a thought, but a pot of hot coffee might be just the thing to help them deal with the weather, and to get you the kind of installation you want;)

Bah they came and they have to come back again wednesday, fiber outside wasnt lit and no one was at the office. Horray for the installers, the guys that came to the house did a great job, but the ones that did the drop to the street didnt give a crap. Oh well.

FWIW, the underground drop at my house was done by an outside contractor, not VZ techs. I don't know if it was the same in your state.

Yeah they said something that illuded to that, and I have seen it on here before too. It sucks because I honestly could have used it tonight, but oh well I can wait. It makes me wonder how much money VZ is wasting on having people come out 2 and three times.

Im off of 202 and Watkins Park drive.:) After the pole drop its usually 6 months to live. You might be getting yours before me even though I have an ONT and BBU at my house right now, no freaking fiber to it and install team nowhere to be found. Im on the phone with VZ right now.

Well I called VZ and they said to call back tomorrow since no one wants to pick up on the installers end. WTF is this how the hell do I have half an install and now no one is going to come out and finish it. Oh well atleast I have the lights from the BBU and ONT to stare at. Im betting that I will go two or three more months before I even have FIOS. Nobody seems to care over there. I hope verizon doesnt disconnect my copper!!:( How do I find out when they are scheduled to disconnect the copper?

The installer disconnected the copper when the fiber was connected to the ONT and it was receiving power from in my house. After the indysll was done the installer removed the copper cable from my house to the pole.

Verizon called me and I am "stuck". The company that does the drops (runs under streets and driveways) finished the contract or is for whatever reason unable to come back out (probably doesnt do support calls or something) and the company that is installing the BBUs and ONTs doesnt do drops so I really cannot get the rest of my service. What the vz tech said he is going to do is replace the order and send it to a dispatch service or something. I dont know whats going on, but they had me on the phone for over an hour. Come to find out my entire street which was supposed to have FIOS is dark, the hub that goes to about 5 or 6 different homes is unactivated and there is another section that is supposed to be working on it, but as far as I can tell the box has been dead from the getgo. Oh well. I will update tomorrow. He said it will be atleast another week to two weeks though and that is on the conservative side, the ticket has to worm its way down to the people that place the dispatches and they have to get a VZ person out there to take a look. I guess VZ really isnt doing any fiber installs at all, and their support is contracted out? Id give it another month or two it just sucks to have fiber right there and not able to use it. I hope I go down in the record books for having the worst FIOS install to date.:p I still have my shiney new BBU and ONT though. The light is all nice and pretty green.:)

I called Verizon again and they said my ticket had been closed, they are now going to send an inspector out to the house to make sure that the lines are properly connected before the Dec 30 install date. The saga continues.....
