| Help?
Keeping my connection with Zoomtown has never been great (not to mention speed issues). But lately it's been getting worse and worse. It's about every five minutes or so that it disconnects. I've retrained and all with no help.
Tried calling their tech support and well they seemed pretty clueless.
Any suggestions?
(It disconnected twice while writing this and I'm waiting for it to reconnect so that I can post.) |

| reply to Westix Five minute intervals are normally a modem problem or a MTU issue.
Questions:
1.)How many phones? Are they all filtered?
2.)Satelite? Tivo, Fax machine, Automatic water meter reader? They are all filtered right.
3.)What kind of modem do you have? Their are 2 technologies 1. CAP; Cisco 675 2. DMT Lucent Cellpipe 22-a (white), Lucent Cellpipe 20-a (black) ,Westell 2110 (grey) ,Westell 6110 (black), Westell Versalink (black wireless). Speedstream (black),Infinelink (garbage )Cisco 677 There are more but I can't think of them all.
If you have a cap connection ask the tech what your signal strength is ie 45db- 20 db
If it is real low (anything lower than 31 IMO is poopy.) Ask what your trained @ (what speed) and tell the tech to adjust the powers on the DSLAM. I believe it is set to - 36 have him try raising it to -37 or -38 also you can adjust the modifier. But I would have a senior agent due that.
IF your a dmt connection request a line test 611 is in the same damn building for god sake!
Try isolating when the problem occurs....I disconnect once in a while is like going to a doctor and saying once in a while I don't feel good. It could be one hundred things. More info helps the tech solve your problem more efficiently.
Things to look for does it disconnect when phone calls come in or when you pick up the phone?
Does it disconnect when it rains?
Does it disconnect during a certain time interval?
Every five minutes (example)
With this info call ZT support...there are techs who can help. |

| 1. There is one filtered phone downstairs, I'm plugged into a seperate jack on the 2nd floor.
2. Nothing else I'm aware of on the line, no Satelite, Tivo or anything else. As for the water meter reader, I have no clue.
3. Using a Cisco 675 so I suppose that makes me CAP.
As for patters it does disconnect a lot during bad weather. But it also disconnects during clear weather. I've also noticed that the connection gets worse if I'm using it a lot such as for iTunes, or any type of streaming media. That's not to say however that it wont give me problems if I'm just doing "normal" browsing such as this site or google.
I'll take care of the questions with Tech Support after the Holidays and I thank you for the help. And qnadad I could have sworn that I mentioned that 675 in the first post but I see that I didn't so I apologize. |
