Not really wanting to know anything about the particular model. Just was wanting to get user feedback on that version. I'm actually more interested in the SBG900. But from what I've read so far it's getting mixed reviews.
In other forums on this site. Users seem to be able to trace speed related issues to the port issue I mentioned above for the SB5100. So I was just curious to know if any Insight customers had pinpointed this as the source of their speed problems.

I can't imagine the SB5100 not being able to auto-negotiate its transmission capacity though. Auto-negotiation is fairly old technology and I would think the SB5100 ethernet controller would be mii aware and able to adjust accordingly. If someones router were old enough though, and not mii capable, it might make the SB5100 go to its default of 100mb-FD. That would cause a problem. Likely dropped frames between the two devices, meaning lots and lots of resent packets etc. So technically it certainly could be a problem.
I don't have an mii unaware 10mb card to test the SB5100 though, this is all based from the technical aspect. -- Captain of the ATU Tux Racer Clan. |

This is something I'd mentioned in another users thread previously.
Anyone using a new Motorola or other cable modem that uses this TurboDOX Bandwidth Optimization Software?
