| Inexpensive Ventrilo Servers?
Hey,
I'm looking for a reliable and inexpensive Ventrilo server host. I don't know where to start. I don't need a lot of slots, most is 10 maybe. Can somebody help me?

Even though you aren't gonna use more than 10 people, you can't find hosting for less than 25. |

| reply to Ursher You know you can run Teamspeak 2 server for free with Speex codecs running like Speex 25 and it sounds as good/on par with Vent. Also you can run Speex 12.3 and it is totally doable. Its free, and easy to run, runs rock solid on linux on a crappy headless command line SSH box only (I have a P2 333) and it never crashes. I run it on my main Comcast connection with 768K upstream using 12.3 codec and can support 16 players AND game on it with NO lag if I use the Speex 12.3 codec. It is totally free. You know you could use the older Vent server which I think allows for large player counts for free. Just a thought. I prefer TS2 though. There is a Mac client too if you look for Teamspeex for OS X. Good luck! |

| reply to Ursher I've been using TeamSpeak2 (for a while now) with our 60 Level End-Game Guild for World of Warcraft. We recently made the switch over to Ventrilo and I must say that almost the entire guild loves the change. It's so much clearer. The only drawbacks the Stephen Hawking computer program function voices and the each user needs to appropriately level up or down their gain. I personally like it for the clarity. -- Clans - Games - GameTech - S.F.Bay - 新 |

I find the volume for TS is more even, for Vent, people seem to have different volumes, ranging from inaudible to too high. |
