[Availability] ultra vs xtreme

Last week ordered ULTRA ADSL service for my workshop line via BSFA's online ordering option. When I entered the phone number, LITE and ULTRA service were the only speeds available to order. Yesterday I checked the order status via online and found that XTREME was available for the line. I originally planned on ordering the 3mb service but figured the line condition excluded it. I really don't want to call BS to upgrade (if that's possible). Do I have to get Ultra installed and working first then upgrade to Xtreme?

Re: [Availability] ultra vs xtreme

I would suggest to first get your DSL up and running with the Ultra Tier plan and see how it goes. If you are having sync issues or bad stats, extreme may not function as well. If, however, ultra is running perfect, then upgrade to extreme.

No, but there are different distance requirements for Xtreme and Ultra. It could be a system error.

Previously had Ultra on this line which I disconnected when I switched to COX HSI. At that time I wasn't having any problem. Just needed more speed. My plan is to have DSL restored and then pulling the plug on COX [latency]. When I had DSL before, Xtreme wasn't offered. I would prefer the 3Mb speed.

Try Ultra first

@bls.com
I suggest you get Ultra first pull your line stats and post your results. If you have a really clean line then you should have no problem upgrading. If you line is marginal with Ultra the jump to Extreme may not be a wise choice.

Not if you consider that Red Stick is what the locals call Baton Rouge

I didn't know that. And I read his signature and thought he was in the OK area. My mistake.

Re: [Availability] ultra vs xtreme

landry98, don't count on it.
I have slightly better downstream attenuation (51 db)
with Ultra and it turned out to be a nightmare when I
upgraded to Extreme3.0.
It was so bad, I went back to Ultra.
Who knows when I might be able to get Extreme3.0.
I won't count on getting it anytime soon.

Re: [Availability] ultra vs xtreme

Reading closer, I realize you want 3.0 and not 6.0.
Still, the stats don't look good for 3.0.

Check the Stats

@bls.com

You need to pull your stats from the NID. If the stats you posted were from the NID I wouldn't suggest the upgrade to Extreme. Your line attenuation is right at the point of causing connectivity issues and the increased bandwidth would probably cause problems. Find out why your attenuation is so high and fix it then look to upgrade. Just my opinion.

I realize the attentuation is high and am wondering if there is a solution available from BSFA? Or is this something that's not repairable?
