| [Software] question about photoshop image quality
When saving, what's the difference between "Baseline Standard", "Baseline Optimized", and "Progressive".
When Resizing/Resampling smaller, what's the difference between "Nearest Neighbor", "Bilinear", "Bicubic", "Bicubic Smoother", "Bicubic Sharper".
Basically what I'm asking is what's the best settings to use for the best possible image quality. -- :/ |

Basically, save at baseline standard and at jpeg level 10. At level 12, the files are three times as large and there's no noticible difference in quality. |

| Baseline Standard - original JPG for use with older programs. Baseline Optimized - new JPG version that allows more compression. Progressive - for use on internet where image gets loaded in layers so you can see what is loading while image is loading. Doesn't work with IE since IE is bugged.
Nearest Neighbor - linear resampling. Bad image quality on resize but somewhat faster than other implementations. Biliniar - is a bit better but edges may still look terrible. Bicubic - best resampling quality on using x^2 order algorithm. Slower but no funny edges on the pic. However, it does blur the image a tad. B Smoother - blurs it even further but produces best edges. B Sharper - tries to reduce blurriness but edges might look just a little off. -- -- Who drank has died, who drinks will die; is he immortal who is sober? -- -- I started out with nothing, I still have most of it -- |

Ok so by Baseline Optimized saying it allows more compression, does that mean it compresses the image more (less quality) or that it compresses the image more efficiently (better quality).
And would "Progressive" fix the problem I'm having here: »Re: Circular Polarizers. (EditY) -- :/ |

| More efficiently though pic with baseline optimized are less compatible with older software (which might not be of any concern). Baseline was designed for browsers that are no longer in use like IE version 1. |
