 Best car alarm system?

I'm going to add a car alarm system to my car. What's the best out there now?

The kind that doesn't go off when you breathe on the car.

I have a Prestige alarm that has the paging remote and a little screen that shows which 'zone' of the vehicle has been messed with.
The model is a APS-596, it was close to 200$.

I have the sensitivity set to about 1/2 way and have never had a false positive, not even the open piped Harleys set it off.

It's real nice though...you can have it trigger many many things remotely if you require it.
It'll start your vehicle remotely, of course open the doors, and can be made to open the trunk remotely (along with like 3 other items of your choosing).
It does have a function that the insurance company loves...it auto locks the doors upon vehicle start and unlocks as soon as you shut it off.

I'd post pics of the remote, but my digicam battery is dead right this second.

BTW, it came with a blue LED for the dash instead of the common red.....nice since my interior is blue

Car alarms are a waste of time. Trust me when I tell u this! People will not stop and say, "hey that guy is stealing his car!" Alarms have irratating noises that people ignore these days.Dont waste your time with alarms! This is what you really need Autolock

Double-Nickel chrome look is a must-have for any tuner!

The Unbreakable AutoLock X simply locks up the brake or clutch Pedal, making your car or truck impossible to drive. Guaranteed! The Unbreakable AutoLock X's solid steel deadbolt lock system is virtually drill-proof, cut-proof and freon-proof, under normal circumstances and use.

BRAKE vs. STEERING WHEEL
The Unbreakable AutoLock X uses the brake pedal or clutch pedal arm because their thick solid steel construction makes them one of the strongest parts of your vehicle and virtually impossible to cut. Steering wheel locks are typically bars that attach to the steering wheel & prevent it from turning. Most steering wheels are made of thin metal & foam because they are designed to bend out of the driver's way in an accident. A car thief can easily cut the steering wheel using a bolt cutter or hacksaw, remove the steering wheel lock & steal the vehicle.

Hmmm. I don't see what locking the brake is going to do for you. Somebody could drive away with your car quite easily, and crash into a lot of stuff doing it.

I could get pretty far. The e-brake will work if I need to stop for something.

It's for cars that require the brake pedal to be depressed before letting you shift out of park.

Yeah but those have Shift locks so you can take it out of Park while not having the Brakes Depressed.

My car has a built in steering wheel lock, you just turn it and it locks, and wont unlock without the imobilizer key.

flat-bed tow truck.

It may not happen often in your area, but cars are stolen this way in my area.

But if the car has an automatic transmission, how do you get it out of park without pushing the brake? And if you can't get out of park, how can the car be pushed onto the truck?

the parking brake is something i'd be more worried about. Leaving the gear in 'Park' doesn't offer much resistance.

I'm sure for someone who has access to a flat-bed tow truck, they would have methods to bypass issues like the parking brake, clutch locks, alarms, steering-wheel locks, etc.

BTW, correct me if i'm wrong, but some flat-bed tow trucks come with winches. No need to push, just pull the car onto the bed.

I have an FM-2009 alarm system. It is great. »www.asianwolf.bigstep.com/item.j···=1057750

1mile range, LCD, can open trunk, keyless start!, keyless entry, hood sensor, shock sensor (with adjustable levels so it doesn't go off when the is slightly jostled) and a host of other options. I love it. And it's a good price!

If they want it they will take it. Person had Club and AutoLock on brake pedal and still has no car. It doesn't matter what system you use even storing it in your garage. Do a quick search on Honda-Tech quite a few people have had their car stolen even with the best security measures.
