I hope its the LA/Long Beach market--we are so far behind the rest of LA in broadband speeds etc, because Charter is ignoring us. They are not making any investments here as they do in St Louis, Wisconsin etc. We are lagging at 3/256 with no upgrades in sight, yet they have given higher speeds to smaller markets.
They are NOT a big city player--LA is one of their few large city markets--and they dont seem to understand what to do with us. So sell us to Time Warner or Cox, please. |

| What "investments" are you talking about. St. Louis isn't seeing anything you aren't. We're still at 3.0/256 as well. Our upload rate is absolutely horrific compared to everyone using other services. All I keep hearing is Charter doesn't have the resources, which explains the entire selling of assets. It's pathetic. |

| The "investments" I am talking about are/is the necessary infrastructure for higher speeds. We out here in CA keep hearing that our network cant support higher speeds (though I thought that the CA network was supposed to be one of the better ones--however, posts from the Inland Empire area folks say otherwise). Charter has done nothing to roll out higher speeds here.
I thought St Louis had 5MB--at least some areas do?
I have SBC DSL here at work and have a 360-plus upload on their *basic* service. Charter's upload is just crap. All around me are suburbs with Cox and Time Warner and even the lowly Adelphia--all have higher speeds than I. As a graphic designer who works from home at times, I am tired of taking *forever* to upload large files to an ftp server |

| reply to TekSomniaK I live in the St. Louis Metro East (Illinois) and have 3000/256 internet through Charter along with one of their most basic cable packages (around 80 channels) and they just lowered my monthly bill from 39.99(plus taxes) per month to 17.08(including taxes) per month for switching to electronic billing and signing a one year contract? They told me it was a limited promotion for the entire St. Louis area. Seems there has to be more to it than that? Charter sucks, but for 17 dollars per month including the television channels I am suddenly content with them. |

| reply to HappyBunny I phoned them once about their 5 meg service and they told me it would increase my rate at that time from 39.95 to 59.95, so I told them to shove it. Then when their rep came to my door offering to lower my rates and I asked him about it he told me it was only for business accounts? So I am not sure how or where they have it but I am sure I wont pay 60 bucks a month for it. |
