| help me do bitsetting on my new nec 6650a dvdrw
I just replaced a failed laptop drive on an hp laptop.
The replacement is a NEC ND-6650a.
Supposedly, you can do bitsetting, which allows you to set the booktype to DVD-ROM, when you burn a DVD to make it more compatible with older players.
In DVDdecrypter, there is an option for nec, but when I try to change it, it doesn't work. It just says failed.
As of right now, I am not sure how I am going to get it to work.
Any help would be appreciated. -- You can't live for today when you've got to study for Tomorrow. |

| I'm using standard DVD+R discs. The drive will do dual layer, but I don't expect that I will be using much of those.
I'll look on the net and post back if I figure it out. -- You can't live for today when you've got to study for Tomorrow. |

| reply to thetechie I don't think that drive supports bitsetting with factory firmware. Here's a link to custom firmware for that drive:

PLEASE READ ALL WARNINGS CAREFULLY. Hacked firmware voids your warranty and flashing laptop burners presents more of a challenge than desktop burners. Good luck. |
