| Removing vocals
So I'm trying to tabulate a Phil Ochs song and am having trouble because his voice sometimes overpowers the guitar and I can't hear each note. The guitar is mixed almost entirely to the left. His vocals are mixed in with the guitar and then mixed heavily to the right. I tried using the Remove Vocals tool using goldwave but it doesn't do anything but make the track mono. It uses your usual center interpolating thingy. Is there a way to take what audio is on the right and remove any matching audio from the left? If this wokred it would remove the vocals and remove pretty much no guitar, or am I stuck with a vocals-only recording? -- "Padre, nobody said war was fun now bowl!" - Sherman T Potter »www.cafepress.com/maxolasersquad »maxolasersquad.com/ »maxolasersquad.com/network/ My DSL Network Guide »myspace.com/mlsquadhttp://myspac···mlsquad2 |

| How can I remove vocals from an audio track? The only easy and successful ways of removing vocals are:
1. Find a stereo track where the vocal is on one channel ( say, left-hand ), and backing is on the other. Delete the vocal channel. Pan the remaining channel center so you get a good mono backing track.
2. Find a stereo track where the vocal is panned exactly center. Invert one channel and mix it with the other. This will cancel out the vocal, leaving a somewhat depleted backing track. There are various programs which do this, but the result is not good.
3. Get hold of the original Master and re-record it with the vocal muted. You'll need friends in high places for this one but it's the most successful way, which is why decent karaoke discs are expensive.

| can you send me a copy of the file in question ? i have very powerful audio/video editing tools here. i may be able to reduce the vocals on the specific track youre seeking, but not totally eliminate. the software will learn certain audio "curves" you teach it using oscilloscope and frequency notch/bandpass, duplicate the learned curves, invert it, and then apply it to the original track, in effect cancelling out most of the learned audio curves on the track. if you want to send the file... elitedata at gmail.com -- S.C.P.D.
