kinda don't mix eh???... the coconut trees to montreal canada doesn't it sorry about that...2 years ago i did open a computer business in my country(Philippines)i kinda saw that wisp has a potential in the rural areas specially in the places that has constant typhoons(huricanes)telepnone lines are limited in these areas. As u can see my connection to the internet is from a satellite(128kbps).Most of my knowledge about wisp comes from this forum...i learn as i go on.That's why i tried to explain myself and not to sound stupid. Most of my project went well...u just have to use common sense. It's a remote location...I tried to buy everything here in canada, but once you are there it takes about two days to go the main city(manila)to buy anything u need. The 2nd main reason i go back there is these ...»www.surf.com.ph/photos.htm

Champlain bridge... Don't think traffic is the problem... More like collapsing when a single mosquito lands on it. Love the quality of thoes Quebec roads!

Looks good. Man I'd hate to service that thing if it ever acted up though.

LOL yeah the "big O" is a deathtrap (Was just there this weekend for the monster truck show, could have sworn I saw pieces of the roof falling down)

I put a 40' telescopic mast like that on my roof. I am not sure if I qualify as a step by step guide, but I think all went well with mine and here is what I did. And, I try to be careful as I respect gravity and realize that the sudden stop at the bottom is not good for equipment or the human body!!!

It was actually easily done by myself in about 5 hours on a Saturday. I mounted it in a 5' tripod. I had to drill the rivets out of the tripod and replace them with 1/4"x20x1" bolts to make the diameter of the tripod center large enough for the mast. I bolted it all together on the ground and carried it up to roof as one piece. I attached the entire tripod as well as the base mount of the mast to a sheet of plywood that I had cut in half (so that each half layed on one side of the peak of the roof). I then plumbed the entire assembly with a level in several directions.

I measured and set all guy wires to the guy wire rings on the mast and left them loose. I guyed the 10' section and tightened them, then double checked plumb. I used a 6' step ladder beside the tripod for the rest. Once all was good there, I raised each section going from the top to the bottom and locking each one in place. This way, all work is done at 10' above roof level. Once I got it all the way up, I went back to the ground and started adjusting my guys. The entire assembly felt remarkably secure even though the 30' from the 10' guy to the top was not guyed for about 10 minutes. WARNING!!! Only do this on a VERY calm day. Also, use gloves while raising or lowering the sections. They are very easy to control when you just use your grip to lower it or to rest while raising it.

It's really not bad to raise and lower. Once the guys are all set, I just drop it down to the 10' level, do what I need and then raise it back up. As long as you can get it down to the 10' level, you can reach it from a 6' step ladder and be 2-3 steps from the top. Tweak a guy if needed and all done within an hour or so. The whole thing only weighs about 50lbs.

Ummm, upon closer inspection, that is slightly more substantial than my Rohn roof mount kit. I still stick by my installation method, but don't let my "It's really not bad to raise and lower" comment apply to this visual. Mine is of a much lighter duty!!! I'll try to get some pics soon, but it is usually dark when I get home since the time changed.

I'm not saying that your design is bad nor i'm competing with your design. If i sounded that way.. i apologize. This tower is for areas that has the same situation than i do.This is for the tropics, with lots of rain, constant wind gust,heat,humudity,huricanes...lots of mosquitoes

No offense taken or intended. I just didn't want anyone to see that mast and hear my "not difficult to raise or lower by myself". My entire mast weighs 50lbs or less and is telescopic. I believe it is an excellent budget method for gaining height and feel like it is very sturdy once installed properly! The mast that you installed just looks significantly heavier duty than mine.
