The problem I have with that letter is that it doesn't state HOW MUCH data was transferred in HOW MUCH time (just says "unusually high over an extended period").
In fact, the only numbers on the entire letter are the phone number!
Maybe your PDA phone or laptop has a worm or bot/spammer/DoS running, but how can you even start to guess unless you can compare your normal usage with the numbers they give you?
I think the solution to all this is for everyone to use multiple GB/month... then their bandwidth alarms that watch for deviation from the norm (not some set MB/GB limit) won't think a few GB/month is "unusually high" since it won't be far off the norm. If everybody demands multiple GB, then they will have to provide it or lose all their customers. |
