Re: textmode - bugs reports and suggestions topic

Samsung BlackJack, Cingular/AT&T.

Site works great on it!
Two errors I noted:

When doing the speed test, and you click "again", it automatically brings you to WAP mode. I was testing in HTML mode to begin with.

Also....pretty serious bug if you are going to rely on ANY speed tests for the mobile. This is regarding the "your IP" link:

If I use Cingular's proxy (as is default for the "media max" bundles, and if you use any cingular video it's required), I get a 209.183.32.X address.

If I use a direct internet connection (NO proxy, using Edge network on the phone - no wireless or sync to any PC), i get a 166.196.51.X address.

That's not a problem - the problem is that the 209.183.32.X address has a rDNS entry of *.mycingular.net. At the "your IP", it correctly identifies "DNS: mycingular.net"

The 166.196.51.X has NO rDNS (as verified on a Savvis provided DNS, OptOnline DNS, and Level 3 DNS) - yet "DNS: myvzw.com" appears at the link!

Arin lists the 209. as a Cingular owned subnet.

Arin lists the 166. as "Service Provider Corporation" owned - NOT Verizons.

I'm not sure if this is an oversight.....but If the mobile speed tests are to be taken serious, I think that any 166.128.0.0/9 address should not automatically be identified as myvzw.com, as they service Cingular, Verizon, alltel and a handful of providers throughout the world which are capable of being in that subnet.

Hi Justin,

The layouts look fine on my Sprint BlackBerry 8830, but I can't use auto quote. Nothing populates in the text window after clicking the auto quote button.

Regards,

Randy

With the most recent changes to the Posts page adding icons to the tabs, the text view contains garbage variables where the images would be on the non-text view.

On my Samsung Blackjack I can't make a post on the text site or regular. I enter my message and hit post and it says requested page can't be found.

I brought text mode up in FF and here's what it shows there too. You can see the $silk() variables.

Blackberry 8830 (Bell Mobility)

The auto quote button when replying to posts does nothing. All other buttons on the reply page seem to work.

Strangely, I'm only getting that message when clicking on a particular thread.

I got this too on my commute home today on my Blackberry.

It happened right after I switched to www from text because I couldn't find a reply link on the text few of a front page article. I think that is also a bug or I'm blind or both.

In text mode (obviously) there doesn't seem to be an obvious Reply for a front page story. You can reply to a comment that was made but not add a new top level comment to the news story.

fourboxers See Profile IMed me to point out the New Topic link. I guess I assumed that like in the forums, that's for creating a new thread.

In a forum thread, the options at the top are:
Reply and New Topic

I would expect Reply as the option within a news story and new topic is more like submitting a news story.

My bad - ignore this one

The last few days I've have been unable to post. Starting today my login cookie expired and now whenever I try to login I get:

quote:
dslreports.com alert:
MSIE 4 on Windows CE is currently not supported for form POST. We are working to address this. Other mobile browsers work ok.
Stuck? try the help forum
which is the same error I get when I attempt to post.

I just got a ATT/HTC 8525 and put windows mobile 6 on it.

I can seem to post or IM via the text site or the regular site. If I try to text either one once I hit send it goes to a white page saying some thing to the effect of page can't be found or displayed.

Last night I typed this out on the text site and hit submit and it said it took it but I don't see my post.

Would like to see:

1. Reply OP link at the bottom of the page.

2. Link to »/forums/buddies in the links list at the top.

When replying to a post, it would be nice if it would take you back to the thread (or the Forum) and not the homepage.

Ok, the 'Auto Quote' button still doesn't work on my BB 8830. However, I have discovered that by playing around with the internet options, lo-fi dslr looks a lot better and even includes things like nested quotes, etc...

To check:
1. Press the BlackBerry button (seven black dots)
2. Select "Options" from the menu.
3. Select "Browser Configuration"
4. Highlight the check boxes next to
? Support HTML tables
? Support Javascript
? Use Background and Foreground colors
? Use Background Images
? Support CSS/Style Sheets     For newer BlackBerry's also set:
? Style Sheets media type = screen
? Show images = WML & HTML Pages
? Emulation Mode = BlackBerry  ? Content Mode = WML & HTML5. Press the BlackBerry button (seven black dots)
6. Select "Save Options"

And look at the difference.

Cheers,
Shaner

Something recently (past 2 months) broke Auto Quote on my BB 8130 with Verizon. I have played with the various javascript options but nothing helps.
