[BroadVoice] Incoming calls get a busy signal?

Just got Broadvoice a few days ago. So far all I've done is try outgoing calls and they work just fine. I've now given my number to some friends as I'm getting ready to cancel my land based line. When they try to call all they receive is a busy signal.

Any ideas? Before I call tech support.

Re: [BroadVoice] Incoming calls get a busy signal?

Same reason why I gave up on BV. Outgoing calls which use your ISP, the internet, and then BV's SIP servers seemed to me to work fine. Incoming calls depend on a local CLEC in your area which receive the incoming call first, then the data to BV who then sends it to you. I had a horrible time with BV's local CLEC for me and few incoming calls worked. But you'll need to call BV for help. It could be a minor problem at the CLEC or perhaps at BV or even a setting in your SIP device. Do you know which CLEC gets your incoming calls? You might post their name for responses. XO Communications, Vonage's local CLEC in Sacramento, seems to have a great reliability record. Other local CLECs that serve other VOIP providers do not.

I have no idea what my "clec" is or what it really means?

I tried BV twice I don't have much time and was on hold much to long and I had to go both times..

I'll have to try them back when I have some time free.

Post your area code and exchange. No need for the last 4 digits, unless you want your # to end up on google.

clec: competitive local exchange carrier.

ilec: incumbent local exchange carrier. This is the company that historically has provided local telephone service, though its name will have changed over the years due to various mergers.
