1 edit | reply to david_gruenb Re: [BroadVoice] working unlocked PAP2
Its working now by trial and error and a mishmash of suggested settings. Kind of hard to say exactly what was the problem. I put it in the DMZ, forwarded ports. Then I ran the voxilla.com wizard again, but It was only when I noticed that the wizard give me a west coast proxy but Broadvoice give me an east cost proxy that I noticed an inconsistency (proxy-dca.broadvoice.com v. proxy-lax.broadvoice.com). The wizard turns on the DNS servicer but when I turned it off it worked.
[edit] actually one thing is not working, voicemail pickup from the phone. When I dial *86, nothing happens. I notice a voicemail server entry box in the pap2. Do I need to set that up?
Thanks for all the suggestions. |

How hard is it for you to check your NAT/Firewall router features, i.e. uPnP? If it is simple, then it will save you lots of hassle to locate the uPnP features to have them enabled. If you have a non-symmetrical NAT/Firewall router, then enable the STUN server and disable the Outbound Proxy server on your VoIP devices; otherwise, do the other way around. |

| reply to david_gruenb Sorry, wasn't very clear.
In the "User ID" of the PAP2, use the construct created by the concatenation of:
phone_number@registrar_ip
where phone_number is the phone_number entry from the Generic SIP details from BV and registrar_ip is the registrar_ip entry also from the Generic SIP details from BV.
Using your example from your Generic SIP details dump from BV, try using:
323xxxxxxx@sip.broadvoice.com
For the Line 1 > Subscriber Information > User ID.

| reply to david_gruenb A message from mberlant over on voxilla gave me some ideas.
•Please change the Line 1 > Subscriber Information > User ID to BV_phone_number@BV_registrar_ip.
If that doesn't work then try leaving the User ID as BV_phone_number@BV_registrar_ip and changing the Line 1 > Proxy and Registration > Proxy to the same value as BV's proxy_ip.
Also, make sure you power-cycle the PAP2 after all these changes. Sometimes the configurations don't take effect immediately. The power-cycle will ensure that it re-reads the flash memory for all the settings.

| reply to david_gruenb Time to start up a syslogd and turn on debugging on the PAP2.
I would love to help on this but I'm still waiting for my PAP2's to arrive (sometime in November). Until then, I'm willing to help look over the SIP communication that will be captured by the PAP2's syslogging.
See ya...

| reply to david_gruenb Make Call Without Reg: no This will disable dialtone if your PAP2 cannot register with BV.
Ans Call Without Reg: no This ensures that calls can only come into your PAP2 if you are registered with BV.
These two settings will determine if you want your PAP2 to make outbound calls or receive inbound calls when your connection to BV is down.
