Re: [BroadVoice] provisioning unlocked PAP2

Yes. Switch to Generic SIP and get your credentials. Here are the steps to use the BV credentials obtained via the "Generic SIP" to configure your Linksys PAP2 (I assume the entries are similar to the SPA-2K entries):

•Using your web browser, goto »https://www.broadvoice.com/AccountPortal/
•Login with your BV web portal account name and pasword
    •Select the ACCOUNT tab.
•Click the Edit button on the My Devices panel.
•In the Current Device selection box you probably have Linksys PAP2-NA. Leave that alone.
•In the Replace With selection box, you should be able to select Not Listed (Generic SIP). Choose that one.
•Enter your portal account password in the Portal Password
    •Click the Update button
•Now go back to the ACCOUNT tab and click the Show Settings in the My Devices panel.
•In a web browser, access the admin/advanced pages of the PAP2.
•The primary_dns_ip entry should be used in the PAP2's System > Optional Network Configuration > Primary DNS
•The secondary_dns_ip entry should be used in the PAP2's System > Optional Network Configuration > Secondary DNS
•The proxy_ip entry should be used in the PAP2's Line 1 > Proxy and Registration > Outbound Proxy
•The proxy_port is not needed since BV uses the standard SIP UDP port.
•The registrar_ip entry should be used in the PAP2's Line 1 > Proxy and Registration > Proxy.
•The registrar_port is not needed since BV uses the standard SIP UDP port.
•The PAP2's Use DNS SRV should be set to "no".
•The PAP2's Use Outbound Proxy, Use OB Proxy In Dialog, and Register should all be set to "yes".
•The phone_number entry should be used in the PAP2's Line 1 > Subscriber Information > User ID.
•The auth_id entry should be used in the PAP2's Line 1 > Subscriber Information > Auth ID.
•On the PAP2's Line 1 > Subscriber Information > Use Auth ID, set it to "yes".
•The auth_password entry should be used in the PAP2's Line 1 > Subscriber Information > Password.
•The tftp_ip entry can be ignored.
•The ntp_ip entry should be used in the PAP2's System > Optional Network Configuration > Primary NTP Server
•The DTMF entry inidicates that the PAP2's Line 1 > Audio Configuration > DTMF Tx Method should be set to Inband+INFO.
•On the PAP2's Line 1 > Audio Configuration > Preferred Codec, set it to G711u.
•Set "no" for all the other G7xx Enable entries on the PAP2.
•On the PAP2's Line 1 > Audio Configuration > Use Pref Codec Only, set it to "yes".
•On the PAP2's Line 1 > Audio Configuration > Symmetric RTP, set it to "yes".

If your PAP2 is behind a NAT'ing firewall/router, you will need STUN support enabled:

•In a web browser, access the admin/advanced webpages of the PAP2.
•In SIP > NAT Support Parameters, set the following to "yes"--Handle VIA received, Handle VIA rport, Insert VIA received, Insert VIA rport, Substitute VIA Addr, Send Resp To Src Port, STUN Enable, STUN Test Enable.
•Set SIP > NAT Support Parameters > STUN Server to any of the Public STUN servers listed at »www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=STUN .
•Set SIP > NAT Support Parameters > NAT Keep Alive Intvl to 15 seconds for now. You can slowly increase that number when you know everything is working correctly.
•Set Line 1 > NAT Settings > NAT Mapping Enable and Line 1 > NAT Settings > NAT Keep Alive Enable to "yes".
•Set Line 1 > NAT Settings > NAT Keep Alive Msg to "$NOTIFY" and Line 1 > NAT Settings > NAT Keep Alive Dest to "$PROXY".

Once again, I'm basing all my suggestion on an SPA-2K. I won't get my PAP2's delivered to me until November.

See ya...

Re: [BroadVoice] provisioning unlocked PAP2

Well that is really great. It tracks perfectly, with one exception. At number 18, it says "The PAP2's ... Register should all be set to "yes". There is no "Register" entry. There are two entries as follows:

Make Call Without Reg: yes/no
Ans Call Without Reg: yes/no

I am going to assume the answer should be "yes" to both, but if not I will try "no".

Unfortunatly, it is not working. "Registration State: Can't connect to login server."

I don't see an entry for dial plan. I have *xx|#xx|[3469]11|0|00|[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|xxxxxxxxxxxx.

Make Call Without Reg: no
This will disable dialtone if your PAP2 cannot register with BV.

Ans Call Without Reg: no
This ensures that calls can only come into your PAP2 if you are registered with BV.

These two settings will determine if you want your PAP2 to make outbound calls or receive inbound calls when your connection to BV is down.

Re: [BroadVoice] provisioning unlocked PAP2

Also, don't forget to set the DNS Server Order in the 'System' tab to manual, DHCP, and double check the DNS server entries to match the primary and secondary provided by BV (or the proxy-dca... address won't resolve).

Re: [BroadVoice] provisioning unlocked PAP2

Time to start up a syslogd and turn on debugging on the PAP2.

I would love to help on this but I'm still waiting for my PAP2's to arrive (sometime in November). Until then, I'm willing to help look over the SIP communication that will be captured by the PAP2's syslogging.

A message from mberlant over on voxilla gave me some ideas.

•Please change the Line 1 > Subscriber Information > User ID to BV_phone_number@BV_registrar_ip.

If that doesn't work then try leaving the User ID as BV_phone_number@BV_registrar_ip and changing the Line 1 > Proxy and Registration > Proxy to the same value as BV's proxy_ip.

Also, make sure you power-cycle the PAP2 after all these changes. Sometimes the configurations don't take effect immediately. The power-cycle will ensure that it re-reads the flash memory for all the settings.

Re: [BroadVoice] provisioning unlocked PAP2

d.c., by "BV_phone_number@BV_registrar_ip" do you mean literally "BV_phone_number@BV_registrar_ip" or do you mean xxxxxxxxxx@BV_registrar_ip with xxxxxxxxxx representing my phone number?

Re: [BroadVoice] provisioning unlocked PAP2

Sorry, wasn't very clear.

In the "User ID" of the PAP2, use the construct created by the concatenation of:

phone_number@registrar_ip

where phone_number is the phone_number entry from the Generic SIP details from BV and registrar_ip is the registrar_ip entry also from the Generic SIP details from BV.

Using your example from your Generic SIP details dump from BV, try using:

323xxxxxxx@sip.broadvoice.com

For the Line 1 > Subscriber Information > User ID.

Still not working. Any chance the firewall instructions above need tweaking??

Re: [BroadVoice] provisioning unlocked PAP2

How hard is it for you to check your NAT/Firewall router features, i.e. uPnP? If it is simple, then it will save you lots of hassle to locate the uPnP features to have them enabled. If you have a non-symmetrical NAT/Firewall router, then enable the STUN server and disable the Outbound Proxy server on your VoIP devices; otherwise, do the other way around.

Re: [BroadVoice] working unlocked PAP2

Its working now by trial and error and a mishmash of suggested settings. Kind of hard to say exactly what was the problem. I put it in the DMZ, forwarded ports. Then I ran the voxilla.com wizard again, but It was only when I noticed that the wizard give me a west coast proxy but Broadvoice give me an east cost proxy that I noticed an inconsistency (proxy-dca.broadvoice.com v. proxy-lax.broadvoice.com). The wizard turns on the DNS servicer but when I turned it off it worked.

[edit] actually one thing is not working, voicemail pickup from the phone. When I dial *86, nothing happens. I notice a voicemail server entry box in the pap2. Do I need to set that up?

Thanks for all the suggestions.
