How long for DVR to start working?

I just picked up a DVR from Comcast. I got it hooked up and called Comcast to activate it. That was at about 6:45PM. The guy said it could take up to 10 minutes to see anything. I waited 20 and called back. The woman did it again and it's now 8:15 and still nothing.

I have the Guide up and everything is "To Be Announced", but nothing else.

Am I just impatient? How long did it take for you?

should be working now. Did the cable outlet you hooked it up to work before you put in the DVR?

Everything appears to be okay now. It just took a while.

What drives me nuts is that the channel lineup on their website had the channels on the same numbers as analog cable, but with the box, the channels are all wacky.

It's going to be tough on the kids who are going to have to remember which numbers are which on what TV.

If it is/was a Scientific Atlanta box, it should only take 2-3 minutes.

It's wacko (no relation to Michael) that the Motorola boxes can take up to "hours" to come in.

Here with Comcast, the CSRs enter the box info and its ready to go when I get it home and hook it up.

Knology requires a tech install but once they hook it up, call in for a hit, within 2 minutes its up and running.

It just seems laughable that some Motorola box area techs have to leave the boxes in limbo and tell the customer they "should be up in a few hours".

sometimes the motorola boxes require a hit to make them work. I would call comcast and let them know it's not working yet. It's fun being the first in your area with a new technology because you get csrs who have no clue how to fix your problem and want to send a tech out to fix it for you.
