While we were putting men on the moon, building the first computers, and designing the IEEE specs for the ethernet that was being put into practice, most of these UN represented people had never yet seen so much as a telephone. Much of the world remained with 18th and 19th century technology if they have any at all. They have no right to impose their backward standards on us. It is OUR technology. They may ask to use it only under our rules. They have no right to impose their rules on what is rightfully ours.  |

That doesn't make them any less entitled to have a say in matters that concern them.
Poor people are allowed to participate in the democratic process in America. Poor countries are are given the same liberty on UN councils. I see no problem here. |
