| reply to rcilink wowww thank you Matt, Rcilink & DaSneaky1D !!!!! it worked on the PAP2 I got from Staples (NY). Admin w/o password! now lets see If I can configure stanaphone with it.
If others need help, post details, I will try to help, but this step-by-step guide worked with TFTP (solarwinds.net) flawlessly on 2.0.12(LS) original firmware.

| The PAP2 and PAP2-NA use identical firmware. The PAP2 has different NVRAM values burned into the device than the PAP2-NA which is why a Master Reset reverts the device back to a locked Vonage adapter.
I tried numerous combinations of trying to reset the adapter (both while in "Sipura" mode and "Linksys" mode, switching back 'n forth between the firmware flavors).
It "Sipura" mode, a master reset acted like all "default Sipura" settings were loaded; however, once switching back to "Linksys" firmware, it was a locked PAP2 Vonage adapter again.

| reply to illek I just followed the instruction. but didn't work for me. somebody can help. thanks
I run tftp server on my laptop. unzip two files to tftp server root. then disconnect the internet from the router then connect the pap2 to the router. from my laptop, I can access the pap2's page at 192.168.2.3 my laptop's address is 192.168.2.4. add user's password 1234
step 1-8, no problem.
on step 9. before I upgrad the PAP2-SP2K.bin, the power led and network led are blue. after upgrad it, the power led flashes for about 10 second, then back to blue again. never turn red.
11. still ask for password for admin.
I am running tftp server download from here. I doubt the fireware is not updated. how can I check if my tftp server is running OK.
thanks |

| reply to rcilink you guys are right.. I goofed! The file names should have the "-" in them.. Just rename them to have the "-" (hyphen) in the names...
change PAP2SP2K.bin to PAP2-SP2K.bin
and
change SP2KPAP2.bin to SP2K-PAP2.bin
sorry about that!! |

my suggestion for configuration questions...
go to voxilla.com and use their configuration tool.
for the PAP2 device, try this link: »voxilla.com/pap2config.php (If it barfs, make sure you LOGIN to voxilla first..)
Their config form supports PAP2 settings for:
AdvanceCall Bankoi BroadVoice DialPad Free World Dialup Go2Call Gossiptel iConnectHere inPhonex INX Logical Exchange Musimi Mutualphone Net2Phone Nikkom Nikotel SimpleTelecom Sipgate.de Sipgate.co.uk SIPphone StanaPhone Telefin Terracall TrueVoIP VoiceEclipse VoicePulse (Connect or Open Access) VoIPTalk (TelAppliant) VoIP User (voipuser.org) Vonage Softphone Account Voxee WorldDialPoint (Australia) |

| reply to rcilink Ok, unlocked my 2 units. I decided to try the latest sipura 2000 firmware (3.15) and it took except it caused the red power light and disabled line 2. I was thinking of trying the Sipura 2002 firmware. Has anyone tried it? I want to go with the Sipura firmware since they actually release it regularly |

| reply to rizzo2dial Is there a modified Sipura firmware available that will load using the PAP2 web interface from a file located on a local machine? Would that effectively turn this device into a SPA2000 (or SPA2002), then only needing to update firmware as if it were a Sipura and not dealing with it reverting to a locked Vonage device? PM me if you need to. Thanks

I don't have words to thank you.
I have been working a lot of time trying different methods to get my Linksys Vonage unlocked but all of that effort never gave me positive results, until your guide.
Excellent work, well done, very good job.
Thanks once again and for all, now I have a Sipura 2k working in my little box and administrator privileges what I was looking for a long long time...
