A triple header.
September 11th, 2005
First a test charge authorization of $1.00 dollar from:
Telecommunications Equipment Coastal Wave Internet Port Clinton, OH
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
September 23rd, 2005
Then a $9.95 charge from:
KCSOFTLLC.com Rochester, NY
Listed on BBB Warning page since March 24th, 2005 »www.spokane.bbb.org/alerts/alert···wstype=1
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
September 24rd, 2005
Then a $24.99 charge from:
Digital Age Cypress
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
It looks like someone is testing the card and if the Auth goes through, then the other companies hit the card for their charges. Or is it just unrelated? One company is apparently legit.
Anyone else with these 3?

Doctor, if you look through the other threads in this forum, you'll see that the latter two charges have shown up for other people here:
»$9.95 scam, now from kcsoftllc.com
»Trouble Bubble LLC Collegeville? |

| Yes, I did search the Forum as well as Google and elsewhere, but there were no posts with two (2) name matches together much less all three (3). I did post in the »$9.95 scam, now from kcsoftllc.com thread to keep it updated.
The strangest thing is the Ohio Wireless ISP that charged an Auth on my card and yet I've never been to Ohio and I am not a Yacht owner (their primary target customer base) so who is using their CC processor to test cards for being valid? That sounds very suspicious.

That sounds very suspicious. Regards, Doctor Olds That is a typical MO of how some of these frauds operate. IMO you are on the right track and your card was tested thru Coastalwave with the $1 charge.
My guess is that Coastalwave's merchant account was hacked or compromised. The scammers will usually hack them on weekends, and run hundreds of tests to validate cards. Since you are an interested party you may want to call them »www.coastalwave.net/contact.php and enquire about the test on your card. I would not be surprised if that was the case.
Did your bank give you any contact info for the Digital Age charge ?? a phone number maybe or address?. Cyprus seems to be a favorite scam location.
As already posted, both KCSOFTLLC and Trouble Bubble are under the umbrella of the Devbill.com Credit Card scam operations.

| reply to Doctor Olds Some merchant accounts operate with essentially no security, allowing anyone that reads the code on a site to place charges as though they were the merchant, and look at the merchant's account to see if they went through. The merchant then finds his account has been closed by his merchant bank, and his 800 number overwhelmed by phone calls. Sounds like the case here. |

Looks like the previous posts are old but I just got hit with $24.99 from Cyprus Digital Age on 9/19/05 and there is only part of an 888 number. I am disputing this with the bank but they say this transaction is something I signed for! I knew it had to be bogus transaction. Anyone else had this recently?? |

| reply to Doctor Olds I've seen it too. It bills out of Sweden, but most credit card companies are aware and catching them before they get thru. Fraud rings set up ficticious businesses and name them after real reputable companies so if you see the charge on your statement you will think that it is legit. |

| reply to Doctor Olds My Amazon.com card (Chase Bank) was charged by this "Digital Age 888-529-98 Cyprus" for $24.99 as well on 9/15. I am going to report this as a fraud to the bank and cancel the card. [Sigh!]
Also everyone should take time to file a report with »https://www.ifccfbi.gov |

| I was doing some on line banking and found a charge for $24.99 from...you guessed it...DIGITAL AGE 888-529-98 CYPRUS / SE. I contacted my credit union and they have cancelled my debit card for this account. I have never used this debit card for anything other than actual hands on purchases including Safeway, Albertson's and various other grocery stores / drug stores. Never for anything online. I have filled out the complaint form at the FBI web site mentioned in other posts. I'll keep watching this thread for other ideas! |
