| Well, I just got an update and now CS:S will not launch. Keeps locking up and I have to reboot my computer. I read what the update was, but can not remember at the moment.

And what I found very strange was the update was dated August 10th. Last time I checked the lower right corner of my screen the date was currently September 23rd. Hmmmmmmm
I have also tried to go to the Steam user forums for some information, but get a "page cannot be displayed". Looks like something is borked on their end.

"Updates to Steam have been released. The update will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. This release includes a number of very specific CPU and memory footprint optimizations brought over from the Half-Life 2: XBOX development codebase. The release also includes all of the engine groundwork to enable the Day of Defeat: Source launch that will happen Monday, September 26 at 3:00 PDT."

Ok, according to this an update was released. Maybe someone just linked to the wrong file or something. Or it could be the News was updated before things were ready to go Online so to speak. Sure wish they would hurry up. I want to play a little before my electricity goes out. Yea Rita

I was starting to think something was wrong with my computer. O well, guess we wait and see. Hopefully someone will post the obligatory "I updated and everything is fine" and then we can try again. As for now I am tired pressing the restart button. They make that thing really hard to press on Antec cases.

| Makes me wonder if Valve even updated their own main servers because people are placed on different servers meaning that we might be trying to access servers that don't have the update yet.
I heard in the Steam forums this update allows you to turn on HDR in CS Source now!

I'm sure they're just getting overrun with "WTF VALVE UPDATE IS TEH SUCK" posts from all the kids that frequent those forums. Source is running fine for me, although there are a minimal amount of servers available until they all update. The one I was playing on at the time showed a message "Server is shutting down." So I guess at the next map change each server will automatically update. |
